As previously reported, Plies (whose real name is Algernod Lanier Washington), and Louisiana rapper Lil’ Boosie performed at Gainesville nightclub 238 West early Sunday morning. Shortly after 1:45 am a fight broke out when Plies’ microphone was cut off during his performance. The fight was shortly followed by gunshots – and five members of the audience were injured by bullets.

Police arrested the Fort Meyers rapper and the three men with him as they attempted to leave the scene. The authorities also recovered five loaded guns and armor-piercing ammunition in the suspects vehicle.

According to the Fort Myers News Press Plies was freed Monday after he posted $50,000. The rapper was being held on charges of illegally possessing concealed weapons, as was his associate Keon D. McRae, who is still being held on $200,000 bond. Another entourage member, Tory Denard Carnegie is being held on $525,000 bond, he has been charged with five counts of attempted murder and one count of carrying a concealed weapon, while Plies’ brother, Ronnell Lawrence Layatte, is currently being held without bond on six counts of attempted murder.

Currently free on bail, Plies is concentrating his efforts on clearing the names of his associates. A MySpace.com webpage dedicated to the rapper (www.myspace.com/plies) currently displays a message saying: "Free Big Gates, Holly and T-Ro! To everybody who was at the club that night and knows what went down and has credible info holla at me a.s.a.p.!"

According to Plies official Slip-N-Slide website Big Gates is his brother’s nickname. Slip-N-Slide could not verify whether the MySpace page is legitimate but they did say the rapper has a MySpage page that the company does not maintain. Based on the success of two previously released mixtapes 36 Ounces and 100% Real Nigga, Plies is one of Slip-N-Slide’s rising stars.
