MTV Releases List of Hottest MCs in the Game of 2009

New York, NY – Earlier this week, MTV released quite possibly the most controversial, yet important, list of the hottest MCs if this year. That same list has been an annual event all on its own, as soon as it is released to the press. The list concerns artists that have proved their skills to the masses, or at least the MTV staff voters, of their potential in lyricism and delivery. After the list has reached different readers, the controversy over the ranking then commences amongst the dedicated Hip-Hop fans or even to the artists themselves, but then again that was probably the main reason behind it.

This year’s top 10 came out quite interesting and sure enough, it wasn’t what I expected. I was upset when they ranked Jay-Z number 2 last year; they finally came to their senses giving him the number 1 spot this year. With Lil Wayne coming in second and Drake following right behind was something that wasn’t expected. Drake has not been in the game as long as some of these other artists and all of sudden he’s ranked number 3. Even with that, he’s ranked above Ross, Ye, Jeezy, and Fabolous, I got one question, is MTV out of their minds? And then they put 50 Cent at number 9 above Raekwon, now that’s another crazy choice. 50 shouldn’t have even made top 10 and Rae should have been higher.

Here is MTV’s Top 10 Hottest MCs of 2009:

1.Jay-Z

2.Lil Wayne

3.Drake

4.Kanye West

5.Rick Ross

6.Gucci Mane

7.Young Jeezy

8.Fabolous

9.50 Cent

10.Raekwon

At press time, we await the onslaught of comments by the fans and the readers who will agree and disagree with this Top 10 list put together by MTV.

Besides Hov and Weezy being at the top in the right order, their list is just crazy. I need to get on the damn voting committee; they need a lot of help in choosing Hip-Hop artists. Where the hell is Eminem on this list? He released a powerful album, especially with the track ‘Beautiful,’ and he didn’t even make the top, what type of shit is that. MTV needs to take this back to the committee and re-do their listing or maybe I’ll do mine for 24hourhiphop.com like I did last year, only this time it’ll be better.

Lady Gaga Discusses Reasoning Behind Tour Cancellation

New York, NY – At one point in time, the eccentric Lady Gaga and the narcissist Kanye West were supposed to go on tour together under the title ‘Fame Kills’ Tour. Last Thursday, both artists came to an abrupt decision to cancel the tour altogether. The next day, MTV News caught up with Gaga and inquired about the reasoning behind the sudden cancellation.

At the time, she didn’t really get into detail, but she did state that Kanye wanted to take some much needed time off from the road, while she would be touring on her own.

These were her comments:

“Well, actually, it was a mutual decision to cancel the tour, but I’m not taking any time off, so I’ll be leaving just a week later than I was supposed to on my own solo tour. It will be the same places. So I will see you guys there. I’m putting out my re-release as well — The Fame Monster on November 24.”

A new list of artists to be accompanying her on the tour has yet to be announced, but her tour is looking to be revamped and redesigned.

“In respects to the creative work that [Kanye and I] did together, I won’t be doing any of the things that we designed for the tour, it will be entirely new, and it will be just as amazing and memorable and epic.”

MTV didn’t fail to inquiry about her thoughts about 50 Cent’s disparaging comments calling Gaga and Kanye’s tour, ‘the gay tour.’

“I think it’s sad — and I think that nobody in any genre of music should accommodate homophobia.”

At press time, Kanye has yet to supply his own reasons for the cancellation of the tour. Representatives for Ye have yet to even release a press statement in response to his decision.

Taking time off, that’s just an excuse. Kanye is still embarrassed by the whole Taylor Swift charade that he’s afraid that people will either boo him off stage or not even go to the show. It’s a smart move on his part to let the tension die down before returning back to the stage.

The Dream & Christina Milian Expecting First Child

Sometime last month, the two R&B artists eloped in Las Vegas without anyone’s knowledge. What were once rumors and speculation later became a wedding or two, as they apparently celebrated their second wedding in Rome.

Even before the rumors of the wedding began swirling, other rumors of Milian being pregnant was another. Those rumors have now been confirmed true as well. According to People magazine, The Dream and Christina Milian are expecting their first child as announced sometime this past Friday.

These were her comments:

“My husband and I are expecting. We’re about four and a half months along, about 19 weeks. We’re really excited. Honestly, it was kind of planned; we were engaged for many months.”

The couple is currently working on Milian’s upcoming album entitled ‘Elope’ set to be released sometime in the beginning of next year. According to her, the album name has nothing to do with their romance, as a matter of fact; it was before they were even married. She states that the title change has nothing to do with the relationship.

“Actually, the name change came … I don’t know if I was engaged yet, but it really didn’t have anything to do with that. ‘it [was] more so’ about taking a step as a woman and making decisions on my own and doing things without necessarily the permission of others. And I think that’s really more about adulthood and coming into adulthood. I think that’s where we came up with that one.”

Keep posted to 24hourhiphop.com for updated news on The Dream and the Christina Milian.

So The Dream was already digging in the pot before they were even married and pregnancy was probably the main reason behind the marriage in the first place. And now with The Dream working on her new album, it will probably sound a lot better than the rest that she’s released.
