So I guess the prison fairies were really on Kanye West’s side this time. He can finally breathe easy because all charges against him stemming from an assault on a paparazzo at LAX Airport back in 2008, were dropped. Kanye was let off easy, only receiving 50 hours of community service for the American Red Cross.  Initially Kanye was charged with eight misdemeanors including battery, vandalism and grand theft. Both he and his road manger were shown attacking a papparazi and destroying his camera on video. HipHopDX reports:

“According to the Los Angeles Times, court commissioner Mark Zuckerman sentenced West and his road manager Don Crowley to perform community service for the American Red Cross. TMZ.com reports that each was given 50 hours.”

Blair Berk, Kanye’s Lawyer, had this to say regarding the court’s decision:

“I am very pleased the court granted dismissal of all charges,” commented Ye’s lawyer, Blair Berk , to the Times.”

Well damn Kanye, was let off easy. You have to do more community service than that just to receive college credit. I guess that’s the just the life of the rich and the famous. I wonder if Kanye pulled a Taylor Swift on the judge during the hearing to say… “I’m a let you finish but…”

So far Kanye hasn’t commented on the recent update on this case. Well seems like he was in good favor with the prison fairies, let’s see what happens in Lil Wayne’s case.

Beanie Sigel Dissing Jay-Z In Concert?

What’s with all these alleged and supposed disses? Either you have an issue with someone or you don’t. Most recently there has been controversy over whether Beanie Sigel dissed Jay-Z in a concert that took place in Philly.

According to several media outlets, Beanie was brought on stage by his label mate Jadakiss and he performed his own hit single from back in 2005 entitled “Feel It In The Air.” Everything was cool until he then performed a rewritten version of Jay’z Blueprint 3 introductionHipHopDX reports:

“Jay’s original verse reads “Grown men, they want me to sit them on my lap / But I ain’t got no beard and Santa Claus ain’t black.” Following Sigel’s revised,  acapella version, rumors indicate that his implication was that he isn’t on Santa’s, or Jay-Z’s, sack and that Santa can’t come in his house.

Beans, who has been signed to Roc-A-Fella Records since 1998, spoke highly of Jigga and Blueprint 3. In a recent interview with radio personality Jenny Boom Boom of Hartford, Connecticut’s Hot 93.7, Sigel confessed “I ain’t make it past the intro yet. To me, I think this joint might be it. I like it better than American Gangster .”

Video footage from Sigel’s surprise performance of “Feel It In The Air” surfaced on the web shortly thereafter also draws speculation as he recites the end of the first verse, “I read between the lines of your eyes and your brows / Your handshake ain’t match your smile / These niggas foul… Already.” Just before departing the stage, Sigel yelled to the crowd, “Love y’all, Philly. This is my muthafuckin’ house. I run this town tonight!” which is the title of Jay-Z’s single, “Run This Town” featuring Kanye West  and Rihanna.

Honestly I think this could go either way. It could either be a diss or just Beanie showing homage to a fellow emcee. Being in the media, we all know that people can easily misconstrue certain words and/or situations so personally I’m not going to jump to conclusions. It is what it is. Beanie has yet to confirm or deny this alleged diss and hasn’t made a statement regarding the concert. Jay hasn’t responded yet either so I’m guessing this is a dead and pointless issue.  However if it is a diss, it’s kind of random and I would dare say that it was a bandwagon diss. Meaning he’s only dissing him because everyone else has attempted. Who knows. BLAH! We’ll keep you posted on this issue.
