Artist: Lupe Fiasco
Album: Lasers
Label: 1st & 15th/Atlantic Records

Seems like just the other day Lupe Fiasco was “Hip-Hop’s new promising Star but after releasing his second album an flying high off his hit single “Superstar” featuring Matthew Santos, Lupe found himself having to battle with Atlantic Records about the direction of his next album and what of songs he should be putting out. Lead to him refusing to do records like “Beautiful Girl” that turned into a #1 Smash for label mate B.o.B.  and Lupe album release date being pushed back again and again. Through it all Lupe Fiasco seem to continue to record and remain to stand up for the type of  music believes in. That attitude help create records like the albums first single “Show Goes On” produced by Kane Beatz and “Shinning Down”. But it’s on the collaboration between Lupe and producer Alex Da Kid that highlights Fiasco at his best where he’s able to just simply speak from his heart on “Words I Never Said”, over Skylar Grey perfect melodies. But it’s songs like “Out Of My Head”  and ” I Don’t Wanna Care Right Now” that just seem to be out of place on this Lasers project and make Lupe fans scratch their head. Overall I think Lasers could of been a lot better but you still have to respect Lupe and what he stands for at the end of the day because there’s not many artist like him left in the industry fighting through his music for a better tomorrow. More key tracks are “All Black Everything”, “Beautiful Lasers(2 Ways) Ft. MDMA” and “Never Forget You” Ft John Legend.
