New York, NY – The G-Unit General is back in the media once again, but this time it’s not about beef or controversy. We are all aware that 50 Cent is not just a controversial Hip-Hop artist; he is also a very successful businessman at that. He even just made the Forbes Top 5 Hip-Hop Cash Kings again, this time under his humble competitors Diddy and Jay-Z.

Sometime last summer, the G-Unit contract under Interscope came up for renewal, 50 Cent decided not to continue with Jimmy Iovine and Interscope this time around and made a decision to move elsewhere. 50 quickly inked a deal with EMI, who released Lloyd Banks’ sequel to the highly-anticipated ‘The Hunger for More.’ The contract under EMI stipulates that they will only distribute within the North American region, leaving an open bracket for 50 to sign with any company that offers him the right amount overseas. It was reported earlier in the week that 50 has officially inked a deal with a European independent label called the PIAS Group for an undisclosed amount.

The Vice President, G-Unit Records & Entertainment Nikki Martin gave her own comments about the North American and the European signing and the direction the label was heading. These were her comments:

“Last year we took the decision to restructure the label and begin to carve out its own world-wide distribution, marketing and promotions strategy. After signing with EMI for North America, we looked at who could help develop the brand in other key territories and we decided to partner with PIAS who shared our vision and passion for the music.”

At press time, 50 has major plans of opening a G-Unit branch in the United Kingdom for the marketing and distribution side through PIAS. 50 has already appointed DJ Dan Greenpeace to run all operations overseas. As of now, he has confirmed that he is working on a yet to be titled fifth studio album for release in late 2011 or early 2012.
