It is just us or is half the industry confirming the completion and release of Dr.Dre’s long-delayed ‘Detox’ album. It seems everyone from Dre’s own camp to outside producers are vouching for the upcoming release of an album fans are starting to think is mythological. DJ Khalil, who was the producer in the front seat on Dre’s first single off of the album ‘Kush’ which also featured Akon and Snoop Dogg, recently spoke about the upcoming album.

Upon speaking with Billboard.com, the producer explained that finishing the album is Dre’s top priority.

These were his comments:

“Dre’s album is definitely the most important thing right now, because he is definitely in the final stretch. He has the record going, but I’m sure he thinks there are pieces missing still. Until he finds those pieces, maybe he’s not comfortable putting it out yet.”

Even though he isn’t exactly getting the idea of the sound, he states that the album is more forward thinking with a different approach:

“It’s definitely a West Coast sound — more futuristic West Coast sound — at least from what I’ve turned in, I don’t know what he’s keeping, though.”

At press time, ‘Detox’ has yet to receive an official release date from Aftermath nor Interscope.
