December 8th – P. Diddy served as host to the man of the hour, songwriter Rico Love’s lavish 30th birthday fête at Katsuya.
Attendees were treated to a two-course meal at the Asian-inspired restaurant located within the SLS Hotel in South Beach during Miami’s Art Basel.
The exclusive guest list only included a selective 100 of Art Basel’s coveted celebrities such as Kelly Rowland, Eva Cavalli, Fat Joe, Pharrell Williams, Russell Simmons, Andre Harrell, Janice Combs, Angie Beyince, Kenny Burns, Manning Summer, DJ Cassidy, and selected media.
Rico was gifted with a limited edition Hublot Miami watch–named the “Hublot 305,” of which only 10 were made–by owner of Hublot Americas, Rick Delacroix.
That totals his Hublot timepiece collection at two. Yours? Zero. Alas, the life of the anemic middle class. But I digress.
“I am lucky, honored and privileged to have such a warm and heartfelt group of family and friends around me on such a special day,” said an appreciative Love. “I’d like to thank Eva and Roberto Cavalli, and our sponsors, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bal Harbour, Hublot and GREY GOOSE, for making this momentous birthday occasion the most memorable ever.”
As revealed by 24HourHipHop’s interview with Rico, 2013 is preparing to be a productive year for him as he’s already working on various projects for Usher, The Wanted, Kelly Rowland, and much more.
And perhaps, Diddy? Even the mogul couldn’t hold his tongue, and shared his appreciation of Rico’s musical prowess with this gem to the audience:
“I knew Rico while he was growing up in Harlem. I was blown away by his music then, and I still continue to listen to it now. Please raise your glasses to our friend, Rico Love.”
At the end of the dinner, Rico was presented with a five-layer birthday cake, encased with notes etched into each tier and a ‘Hublot’ logo written in white icing on the middle layer.
A Hublot embossed cake? The ultimate example of wealth.
