New York, NY – Very similar to Eminem’s battles with drugs, Shady Records artist Joe Budden has also had his fair share of drug problems. The Jersey emcee has not only rhymed about it in his songs, he has also made it apparent on VH1’s Love & Hip-Hop: New York. During the show, he had the support of many people including his mother, his girlfriend, and his ex, behind closed doors away from the public scene, the CEO of Shady Records has also had a hand in helping Budden overcome his battle with drugs.

During an interview on last night’s (April 3) MTV’s RapFix Live, Budden discussed his drug problems and how Eminem was a huge influence in his journey to sobriety:

“Those conversations are confidential between us, but we definitely spoke about it. He shared some of his experiences; I’ve shared some of mine. It’s a real unique situation, because we’re signed there and he’s one of the greatest rappers ever in my opinion, but as just a person, it’s really like family.”

At one point during the interview, he even discussed the effects of Mollys, positive and negative:

“It helped with sex. People should’ve been doing that without molly. For me, it really was just all bad. I never had time to have sex. It was doing too much to my brain. Once it starts doing that, a bad string of events start to happen with life. Life started to become unmanageable at that point, so it was time.”

Budden even went in and told a story of an event while on the drug. Apparently, one night he was playing music way too loud and the neighbors called the police:

“A routine noise complaint turned into me arguing with the cop. I ended up resisting arrest, I was about to jump off a balcony and go hide through bushes.”

At the end of the day, between his motivation of overcoming his problem and his support team, which includes that of Eminem, he knew what he had to do:

“When it comes to the TV show, when it comes to being clean and sober and just living correctly, they’re there.”
