Josh Brent is being held accountable for death of Jerry Brown due to being two times the alcohol legal limit. Jerry & Josh were driving one night and got into a horrible accident while coming from a night club. Authorities state that Josh had 3 bottles of wine, several cocktails that night before getting behind the wheel. He is currently on trial facing 20 years for driving under the influence which resulted in the death of Jerry Brown.
Josh & Jerry played on the same team Dallas Cowboys and known to be great friends. Josh apologized to the mother of Jerry due to being careless stating that he was not drunk but buzzed which resulted in reckless driving. Jerry mother responded and forgave Josh for his carelessness.
The Authorities will not drop the case instead they are pursuing with a trial against the NFL player for intoxication manslaughter. They also stated that Josh blood results showed that Josh Brent had a blood alcohol content of 0.18 more than twice the legal driving limit of 0.08.
Josh Brent advised police officers during the numerous of alcohol test performed:
“I’ve gotta buzz going,” Brent, 25, told Irving police after the December 2012 wreck in a video recorded by a patrol cruiser’s dashboard camera. He rated himself a 3 or 4 on a scale of 10 in drunkenness and he told officers the wreck was the result of him trying to slow down, not because he had been drinking.
The video was played Monday for the jury of 10 women and two men during the first day of testimony in Brent’s intoxication manslaughter trial.
Dallas County First Assistant District Attorney Heath Harris told jurors in his opening statement that he had no doubt they would find Brent guilty. “The blood doesn’t lie,” Harris said.
Brent’s attorney, George Milner III, countered that jurors would find differently.
“Josh Brent was not intoxicated,” Milner said in opening arguments. “He is guilty of being stupid behind the wheel. He is guilty of driving too fast.”
He is accused of driving drunk and causing the crash that killed 25-year-old Jerry Brown Jr. The two had been partying with other players at a northwest Dallas club.
