Artist: Ace Hood

Album: Ruthless

Label: We the Best/Def Jam

The Broward County monster does once again a second time in a row, this time less ‘Gutta’ and more ‘Ruthless.’ Since the last album, Ace has been known for his lyrical punchlines and furious delivery, there is no doubt or question in this young artist’s talent. Between Khaled and We the Best, they knew they had a winner. The first single off of this new album entitled ‘Overtime’ featured the sounds of Konvict alums, Akon and T-Pain and was a serious chart topper from point. It was evident that this album’s sound would clearly be step up from that of last year’s debut ‘Gutta.’ Now that Ace Hood has made his place in Hip-Hop, ‘Ruthless’ provides more of an in-depth look into the world of Ace. Alongside Akon and T-Pain, heavyweight features include: Rick Ross, Ludacris, Jazmine Sullivan, R&B newcomer, Jeremih, Miami new class freshman, Ballgreezy, and Cash Money CEO, Birdman. They compliment Ace on each track exceptionally well.

This will be Ace’s sophomore album in the industry and it is simply entitled ‘Ruthless.’ It comes with a credible list of artists continuing to co-sign the Broward artist as well as provide their lyricism to guest featured tracks. His lyricism have always provided those quick one, two punchlines as well as narrated storylines. And just like his debut album, the production sound has always been quite phenomenal. The teams that he chose to work with really knew his style as the beats mesh with perfect precision. Production teams included in this studio LP included heavyweight The Runners, The Inkredibles, and for the R&B feel in the track ‘Mine,’ the collective sound of Tricky Stewart and The Dream.

On the real, if you’re an avid Ace Hood fan, this is something you need to pick up. His furious vocal delivery returns with a fiercer tone in his lyrics. Between the guest features and the production, Ace provides you with a full pivotal album. As a step up from Gutta, let’s see how far he can take this second attempt to.

Notable tracks include: ‘Get Money,’ ‘Born An O.G.,’ ‘Champion,’ ‘Don’t Get Caught Slippin,’’ ‘Mine,’ ‘Wifey Material,’ ‘Bout Me,’ and ‘Make a Toast.’
