Artist: Jennifer Hudson
Album: I Remember Me
Label: Arista

Jennifer Hudson has once again showed us why her vocals overshadowed that of Miss Knowles in her Academy Award winning performance in Dream Girls. She is indeed the Cinderella of Soul! The R&B starlet has come a long way since her American Idol days. Jennifer’s vocals on her this album carry so many different emotions. Listening to this album, I felt pain, Vulnerability,Celebration, and Love all together.

‘Gone’ -The opening lines of this song gave me goose bumps.. ‘ Can you imagine what it would be like if we never met, if we never kissed’ .. For me this song represents the celebration of love. I’m single and after hearing that record I’m going to hit the streets of Miami and find me a boyfriend!! So that I can make this record ‘Our Song’ … !!!

‘Everybody Needs Love’ – This record has an old school feel about it, has the 70’s Disco sound, the speaking to towards the end of the track definitely added that initial old school vibe!! But I must say the high pitch adlibs at the end left me gobsmacked.. Mrs Hudsooon Can Saaaaannnng!

‘Don’t Look Down’- is another upbeat number which I’m super obsessed with!! I grabbed the nearest hair brush, hi-jacked my room mates full length mirror and mimed this song like I was in a music video, Oh Miss Hudson would have been so proud(scared) of my 360 degree spin I incorporated into the end chorus where the clapping comes in!

‘Still Here’, brought tears to my eyes, everyone will have their own interpretation of this song, but for me i feel like she’s singing about life after death. What i find so interesting is that its like she’s singing to the souls of her loved ones, she’s telling us although they may not be here physically she still feels their energy. This song is beautiful and after everything Miss Hudson has been through her positive outlook and celebration of life is something I idolize and look up to!

‘Feeling Good,’ her acapella begins pitch perfect. For me, vocally Miss Hudson can do no wrong.. This album has a lot of strong songs. Not only is she looking deliciously edible, but she’s singing like a diva. Beyonce, I love you but until you drop your new album, I’m sticking with Miss Hudson.

All in all, Jennifer Hudson is one of the most strongest soulful singers and will continue making waves in the commercial charts. She came correct and I salute her on this mind blowing album.

Notable Tracks I recommend:

‘Where You At’ – This record shows off Jennifers wide range, she makes it sound so effortless when she hits the top notes, reminds me of her Academy Award Winning ‘ role in Dream Girls.’

‘Angel’ – has that soulful feel good vibe about it, I love the marching drums that plays throughtout the record!

And my personal favorite is ‘I Remember Me’, I feel it depicts the tragedies of what our soulful Cinderella went through.
