Get ready to rock, hip-hop and break some dishes to this brand new street mixtape by Chi-town’s own, Nikki Lynette, Roses N’ Guns 2: The BADDER A$$ED Mixtape That Rocks brought to you by VSOP Studios, DJBooth.net and Digiwaxx. Yes, I said ‘2’ because this is a follow up to the emcee/singer/songwriter/producers project that dropped last year, Roses N’ Guns (also released May 18th). For those of you who aren’t familiar with Nikki, she’s actually worked with a lot of familiar faces; Lupe Fiasco and Mickey Factz to name a couple, and her track, “The Strong Will Survive”, actually appeared on MTV’s Jersey Shore. These are a small fragment of her accomplishments, but trust me she’s is definitely worth checking out.

In going into RNG2, Nikki taps into her inner emo rock star. From the beginning with the boisterous “Small Wonder, Part Deux”, the Family Guy sampled and slightly comedic “Bird = Word 2.0”, the melancholy “Nobody Loves Me” and all the way to her interpretation of Bone Thugs N Harmony’s “Crossroads”, titled the same and featuring former member Krayzie Bone, Nikki proves that she has no problems saying and most likely doing what she wants. Her content touches on struggles as a woman, as an artist and as a human being. Joining Nikki on the tape are neo-soul crooner Dwele, Pugs Atomz, I Fight Dragons, Jav June and Krayzie Bone as I mentioned before. Also, all of the tracks were produced by Nikki herself and Matt Hennessy.

I know that her name is Nikki and she’s a female emcee and she’s A HOT girl, but get the Minaj comparisons out of your head. Miss Lynette fuses, pop, hip-hop, freestyle and rock into one uber sound and does it seamlessly. This is an awesome follow up to Roses N’ Guns and The Strong Will Survive EP. Take a listen and judge for yourself but DO NOT forget to thank me later!
