Gene Walker – Get Out Of Dodge

he hip-hop scene is better than ever! Today’s recording technology allows people to collaborate from opposite sides of the globe. Access to recording equipment is totally widespread. There is this awesome renaissance going on in the way music is recorded and heard. It has brought more positive things to the hip-hop community than negative. The number one album in North America right now is a hip-hop artist, Wale. That’s got to be saying something. If you look at it from a “purest” standpoint though, hip-hop has been kind of in ruins for over a decade. However, I believe that change is good and that all genres of music morph into something new. That is what hip-hop is going through. If you are criticizing every new rapper with the “90’s golden era” point of view then of course you are going to think that hip-hop today sucks. To me though, things are better than ever.

Gwalla: Music is My Passion

Where I grew up it was mainly a lot of underground parties where ppl would showcase their skills since mainly the area was more focused on Mainstream Music Only. House Parties and Local shows would usually be the only place to actually spread the word and let people know who you where. We used to go hard with home made mixtapes and spread copy after copy just to get a name but even then it was damn near impossible to get a following going. Things changed more when I started moving state to state with my music.

Dylan Lloyd: I Am Hip-Hop

Right now I’m working on numerous projects…such as my debut EP coming out this summer called “One By One”. All of the songs on this EP are co-written and produced by Soundtrakk so I’m extremely excited about this. On the NON Hip-Hop/R&B side of things, I have a successful side project with my friend Stephen Jerzak. We do collaborations together and our last two split EP’s have charted top 20 on the iTunes singer-songwriter chart (“What Could Be Better” and “This Is Better”)…so now, we’re gearing up to make our first full length together with Taylor Swift’s producer/engineer in Nashville named Christopher Rowe.
