So, let’s keep it 100, this episode was an absolute bore. So much in fact, that I couldn’t even recap it like my usual clip-by-clip (my brain and lack of patience would not allow it). Before we start, kudos to Brooke for being honest and genuine to Draya in regards to her lack of support when it came to her KING Magazine cover. Not only did she not ruin any cast members event by inappropriately bringing it up, but she didn’t act like a train-wreck. Bravissimo, bitch!

And now, let’s recap this mofo. Remember, how I thought Jackie had the worst sense of fashion on this show? Apparently, she’s not the only one. In fact, her friends cast mates somewhat share the same lapse in judgement when it comes to fashion–specifically her collection. Why do I say this? Because they all viewed her collection backstage and thought it was attractive despite the fact that many of the pieces proportions were off, the fabrics appeared cheap, and the collection lacked a theme. But what do I know, right? Just a decade of reading Vogue, listening to Nina Garcia on Project Runway, and working as a fashion columnist for Examiner.com. But I digress. My favorite part about Jackie’s showing at New York Fashion Week is her self-serving friends cast mates. Let’s all not forget that aside from Bambi these women are over Jackie Christie. Yet, they all showed up to strut their stuffs and fight over her clothes (Draya that jab was for you).

Speaking of Our Lady of Compton…

That’s one mighty tight embrace for friendship or business consulting…

Bambi: “What?! I have this massive, girlish grin on my face with EVERYONE. This means nothing…”

Isn’t it adorable when you meet your hard-as-nails friend’s obvious crush? Watching the (imaginary) butterflies and hearts flutter around them is enough to restore your faith in all encompassing Disney love. That’s exactly how I felt watching Bambi and basketball player, Barron Davis discuss her music career at the studio. Bambi’s excited because he’s willing to help her with branding and marketing her image. But what really steals the scene is the duo’s obvious crushing on each other! She interviews that she respects him as a mentor because he’s ambitious and goal-oriented, and it’s adorable because I know she wants to replace ‘mentor’ with ‘boyfriend.’ Just from watching their interaction, I put five on it that he’s hit that. She shares that he’s that guy that can give her structure, and I completely believe her considering he speaks fluent Bambi. Normally, when interacting with her cast mates she’s defensive or slightly aggressive, yet with Davis homegirl is practically blushing with a goofy grin on her face. To which I demand, “Why aren’t you two a couple?!” I am so for this to happen. Normally, I’m against athletes finding true love (because they’re philandering whores) but I really believe she can handle him (literally, she’s as tall as him). Davis gives her props and basically says she has no other competition female-wise and she seems genuinely appreciative and proud of his comment. Sadly enough, we don’t get to hear Bambi spit some bars.

Oops! My timeline is a bit wrong. Prior to this scene, Brooke politely told Draya that she isn’t invited–while inviting all of the other women–to pre-drinks prior to her ladies night out to celebrate her KING Magazine cover. Why? Because she’s being very condescending towards her accomplishment, duh! To which I agree. Draya is basically sneak dissing or shading Brooke. Her argument remains, ‘It’s not an accomplishment to me; it’s not a big deal’ and compares it to charity work. Here’s how I know she’s just hating because she didn’t land a cover: Draya initially came to KING Magazine for a photoshoot, and later stormed out like a banshee once she spotted Brooke and her massive cake. That little pretext of leaving because it wasn’t a closed set is pure BS because had it been a closed set she’d still have been salty (and probably left) that another woman, Big Booty Judy was in the house.

The most redundant topic ever. Shawn: “So, let me tell you what happened with Draya…” Oy vey.

Flash-forward to Brooke’s launch party for her cover. All the ladies–except for Draya who refused to attend because of her fearing to run into the editor–are in attendance. The editor, Shawn arrives and proceeds to spill the tea on Draya. While he’s spilling (which includes he never told Draya it was a closed set or that the cover was for her), Malaysia–who prides herself in butting in everyone’s business–decides to conveniently exit stage left and run to the bathroom. She interviews that she couldn’t bear to hear someone talk negatively about her friend which I thought was ironic/hilarious considering had this been a non-friend she would have given her unrequested opinion and more. Apparently, it’s better to not be Malaysia’s friend, then she’ll blindly have your back. At this point, Brooke interviews that she questions Draya’s friendship and notes that it seems to her the real reason Draya didn’t want to attend was because Shawn was going to expose her as a liar.
Brooke attempts to get a genuine ‘I’m happy for you’ and apology from Draya at dinner. It doesn’t work. Instead, Draya continues to sneak diss her, and shade her for filth. This scene really lets me see Draya’s immaturity. It’s like night and day when it comes to these women’s’ logic. Then again, Brooke is a full-fledged adult with children so most likely she deals with this type of behavior on a regular basis. Brooke agrees with her that she’s selfish. Then she gets up, and walks away leaving Draya to ponder how her ego just killed a potential friendship.

Draya: “So, I am selfish. Couldn’t you tell by now? I thought it was a non-factor in our friendship…”

The reigning adults on this show. Too bad every episode couldn’t be as happy as this moment.

Stray Observations
Who else died after the epic pot-calling-the-kettle-black moment when Jackie interviewed, “Draya should stay out of it; I don’t get involved between you & Brooke”? How can Jackie ask Draya to stay out of her business when she’s invited everyone into it?
Wasn’t Brooke on point with her one-liners tonight? My favorites: “It’s definitely a Debbie Downer moment” and “Show’em how to walk in a room full of vultures.”
Again, Laura’s agent needs to schedule a meeting with her in Disney’s villain department because she continues to drop eerie, foreshadowing word bombs like this: “What happened I believe is going to be life changing. Just understand there is something more in store for you and I.”
How naive was Draya when she informed Brooke that Malaysia is a real friend because she walked away as opposed to sitting there and letting Shawn diss her? She completely missed the fact that Malaysia didn’t say anything yet says everything for everyone else.
