24: Introduce yourselves to our readers around the world and let them know where you from and represent.

We are Calico and Blocks, from Salt Lake City, Utah. We represent all the in between states that don’t have a voice
or that are stereotyped and get placed in a certain category. When you think of utah, hip hop isn’t the first thought that pops into your mind! Our goal is to break stereotypes and any other negative preconceived notions
about where we are from and who we are as artist. We have both gone through real life situations and countless life changing experiences and we express them in our music our sound everything is something new
we represent good music real music our music 801 biiitch.

24: How long have both of you been recording music for? And were both of you always a Duo?

I, Blocks, have been recording for about 8 years. Started music right before my mom passed away to vent what i was going through when i was 14. I started off solo and within the first year or 2 got introduced to Calico ………………

Calico: Ive been recording and releasing music since 2001. The first demo was recorded on a stolen 4 track recorder and I sold the cassette tapes for 3 bucks a pop at my high school. Blocks
and i teamed up in 2004 when we released our first mixtape together. Since then its been a wrap!

24: How would you describe your styles?

i think our style is our own style. We both listen and appreciate a broad spectrum of different genres of music. u gotta understand all we ever hear on the radio is down south east coast westcoast bay music
never anything that we can say is our own so when we rap we could either choose to copy what everyone else is doing and hope it works or just stick to what we no and try and create something new and that’s what we are trying to do from being on top one week to rock bottom the next even knowing that the reputation our state has is set up to crush us all i gotta say is yea we are from utah…so what, good music and talent
speaks for itself all we are working for is the opportunity for it to be heard.

24: Tell me a bit about the album you guys are working on is there a set release date or single for it yet?

The album we are working on is our first actual album we have put out over a dozen mixtapes hosted by the likes of, DJ Warrior, Nu Jerzey Devil, September 7th, etc.  and have sold 1000’s of copy’s locally.
this is the first official original album we’ve worked on and the creative process for this album has been different . Our whole goal was just to make great music whether it was club street real rap hip hop techno rock ect we just wanted to make a good record that would finally break thru and let the world no who we areso its interesting how the CD came together with the different genres of music but overall i no we accomplished what we set out to makeand im exited for the new year release date as far as singles we have a few that we are still deciding on but will be out soon!

24: Tell me a bit about how you guys are affiliated with Black Wall Street and Purple City?
………….c-le……………
Calico: He introduced us to Shiest Bubz of Purple City and then it was a wrap. Shiest brought me on board to start the Purple City West camp. With The Black Wall Street, C-Le introduced me to Nu Jerzey Devil, we hopped on a track together that he produced on my Coleco Vision mixtape.

24: You recently released a new mix tape titled American/Psycho Die High. Tell me a bit about that project. And the meaning behind the title

Blocks: Well for a while, me and calico we were doing our own thing he dropped a couple mixtapes and i dropped american psycho 1 which was a solo mixtape.but after we got back together and started working on our album we decided to drop a mixtape before the album comes out to promote the album so American psycho 2 is my side of the mixtape and die high is Calico’s side. We wanted to give something back to the all the people that have continuously supported us and our movement over the yearsso we made it AP2DH. for free download.

24: What do you feel you bring to this game which is steadily evolving?

We evolve just as fast as the game does you could listen to a mixtape we did 6 months ago compared to the stuff we are recording now and the sound is a lot better.its easy to keep up with the times when your still young and have so much ahead of you and so much your working for and we work even harder because of the fact that we
don’t live in a popular state a place that doesn’t have any major labels we could just go down too plus our states reputation is working against us as well even the local djs wont play local musicso we bring that hunger that so many artists these days lack we bring something different and it takes that something different to make a star all we need is a chance

24: Besides the album is there any other projects you are working on or involved in?

Well American psycho2/die high is now available. We are currently working on a few projects. Calico has been in the studio recording with his band. We love music and strive to push the boundaries of different genres.  So differently lots more music to come

24: If you guys had to describe yourself in 5 words what would they be?
