24: I know that you were actually signed to a Major Label and in a R&B group as a child before the whole Maybach Music Group situation came to light so take the readers back from a minute and tell them about your grind from then until now and how you and Rick Ross linked up?

Mass Pike Miles: I was discovered by Maurice Starr, walking down the street singing with a friend of mine by the name of Markie. I was inducted into a group called “Perfect Gentlemen”. Unfortunately, the group disbanded after the album didn’t really sell like it was expected to do, even though it sold roughly about 150,000 copies. By industry standards at that time it was considered a failure. Fast forward a few years later now Rick Ross came to Boston doing a promo run and I took the opportunity of meeting him to get a feature. After that we kept in touch. Later, I shot a professional video in Atlanta & Boston, not letting money be the reason and after seeing my work ethic and professionalism Ross invited me to be apart of the Maybach Music Group family. An now your watching “History in the Making“.

24: A lot of people when they first see you think automatically think your a rapper compared to an R&B artist but when you start singing there shocked so would you say that’s one of the things that separates Mass Pike Miles from other R&B artist and if not explain what does separate you from other new R&B artist?

Mass Pike Miles: I’m just doing me! I’m don’t set out to come off  looking like a rap as far as my image goes this is just me. I have an hip-hop influenced lifestyle. I just happen to be able to sing! I really can’t speak on what distinguishes me from other R&B artists. I’m just doing me and telling my story. I’m more focused on getting out good music than any other bullshit perspective anyone may try to stir up. I’m doing this for my people, you smell me?

24: Let’s talk about your song “Love Drunk” ft Rick Ross as well as the video, how did it come about and who produced that records which is actually one of my favorite records from you.

Mass Pike Miles: Good Looking! That record was a concept I came up with. My homie Rico Love scripted the joint and Streetrunner produced it. The video concept was put together by myself and Dan The Man. I just wanted to capture the concept of the record visually for the audience to understand.

24: As far as your album who did you work with and where do you want to take it Musically?

Mass Pike Miles: To name a few Rick Ross, Triple C’s, Bun B, Red Cafe, Mistah FAB, DJ Toomp, Fabolous, B.G., Freck Billionaire as far as artist goes. An for producers Street Runner, The Runners, Inkredibles, Drumma Boy, Bang Village, Anthony Dent, WriteTime, my brothers from Australia The Formula, Unknown& Lewis, Dunny and Brazz of NBH. Not to mention a slew of other talented individuals on the come up.

24: Right now in the music world is there any artist out now that inspires you to make sure your music stays at a certain level and keeps you on your toes?

Mass Pike Miles: Honestly, No. Everyday life and my experiences are my inspiration truly. As long as I stay true to what I do and to my fans I can’t loose(Real language).

24: What advice would you give to an up and coming R&B artist that has the talent but no contact to get meetings to possibly get signed?

Mass Pike Miles: Anything is possible with GOD and remain focused on your craft. Nothing worth having was built over night! Persistence and Determination is the only things in life that’s Omnipotent! Stay recording and believe in yourself. Keep Hustling!

24: I know you have been working doing a lot of hooks for different artist so who have you been working with lately?

Mass Pike Miles: Rick Ross, Triple C’s, French Montana, Bun B, Jadakiss to Styles P. That was just last week(lol). I stay in the lab so I can go on for ever but those are just a few names we’ll talk about for this interview.

24: You also have your own label outside of being signed to Maybach Music Group so tell the readers about that and some of the artist that’s signed to your label?

Mass Pike Miles: Yeah, “Life 4 Life” is the name of the label. We have artists already intact such as Smoke Bulga, Rushya, Roc Ducati, Phastlife, and Millyz. We also have a producer by the name of Antagonist A1, and Khaled from Australia that’s a problem.

24: You recently put out a mixtape called The Pursuit of Happiness which was hosted by DJ Khaled, Rick Ross and Bigga Rankin so tell me how has the feed back from that tape been so far?

Mass Pike Miles: The feedback was Great! I was totally impressed with the outcome.

24: Are you currently working on another mixtape to drop before your debut album as well?

Mass Pike Miles: Yeah, I’m crafting this DJ Drama/D.J. Sense Gangsta Grillz Mixtape as we speak. It’s going to be a Movie!

24: Outside of music you have the passion for a few other things such as Video production and Film with your company “Ghetto Report DVD” so I wanted you to talk to the readers about that as well and let them know about Mass Pike Miles the businessman.

Mass Pike Miles: I’m affiliated with a couple of business ventures that I feel could be good investments in the end with some hard work. I’m pleased “Ghetto Report DVD” is one of the more recognized DVDs featuring some of the top entertainers in the industry speaking of their true feelings from beef to respect and so on. In general it takes a lot of hard work to make anything you take part in succeed.

24: What’s next for Mass Pike Miles that everyone should be on the look out for in 2010 from you and Maybach Music?

Mass Pike Miles: My Gangsta Grillz mixtape, My  Album “The Struggle” as well as Rick Ross next album “Teflon Don” dropping July.6. There’s more to come from the Maybach Music Group family(Epic action movies, Epic action movies).
