24: Introduce yourself to
everyone that doesn’t already know who you are.

Troy2DaVent,
The Streets A&R and DJ.

24: What is the significance
of your name, Troy 2 The Vent?

I
was given that name by my High School Basketball teammates, because they said I
had a split personality. Troy is like the nice guy and Vent is the asshole. So
they just shortened it to Troy2DaVent.

24: Why did you first get
into DJing and how long have you been a DJ?

I
had a failed rap career. Once I stopped rapping, my best friends whom were all
Deejays introduced me into the industry. I’ve been a Deejay and A&R since
2004.

24: What first drew your
attention to hip-hop and who have been your biggest influences?

Back
in the day, rappers like LL Cool J and Mc Shady drew me to love hip hop. My
biggest influences are Russell Simmons and Ted Lucas. Those guys took something
from scratch and became millionaires.

24: As of right now, who in
the industry would you say you listen to on a regular and would probably like
to work with in the near future?

I
listen to a lot of rappers, like Rick Ross, Gucci Mane, Jay-Z and Brisco (which
I worked with already.)

24: Who’s the last new artist you’ve felt?

Ice
Berg from Miami, Billy Blue and Mike Bless.

24: You
have a lot of notable features on your single, like Brisco, Ice Berg and Mike
Bless. What was it like putting Lambo Life together
and what was the inspiration behind the song?

My
career was going slow, because I didn’t have a team behind me; so I partnered
with my management, Ghost Ent. Afterwards it seemed we got into the fast lane
and started moving, hence Lambo Life. So then Mike Bless and I started talking
about the song and video and that was the inspiration.

24: Are you happy with the
feedback you’ve been getting from the
song so far?

Yea
for real!!! We have over a 100,000 views total, between world star and YouTube
and other different sites. We’ve been getting nothing but positive feedback and
we’re looking forward to the next video.

24: What images and emotions do you want your music to invoke in the
listener?

I
want realness and reality. I feel like there is not a lot of substance in music
nowadays. And Deejays gonna feel all the CDs by me.

24: Can you give us an
estimation or time period on when an album will be available to the public?

Right
now we’re trying to brand our management and brand our company. And once we’ve
created the brand then we’ll go from there.

24: Why do you call yourself The streets
A&R
?

I think the 2010 DJ does a
lot more than just spin records. If you think about it, the definition of an
A&R stands for artist and repertoire. An A&R is responsible for talent
scouting and the artistic development of an artist. A real DJ does that too. My
DJs and I have scouted new talent, grabbed their CD’s and broke them and our
market. We’ve sent out emails for them, put out fliers and even gave tips on
what the different fan base and are markets might wanna hear. An A&R also
is the eyes and ears of the label. We are the eyes and ears of the streets and
clubs. Come on DJs! Wake up! Your more valuable than you think.

24: How do you feel about DJs who take credit for
breaking artists?

I’m glad you asked that. I
don’t think that there is one DJ that can take credit for breaking any artist
alone or himself. The only way this can happen is if that DJ has a million
twins. It always makes me shake my head when I hear a DJ claim total
responsibility for breaking an artist. The last time I looked, I didn’t see you
over in my hood or in my market. I think a DJ can say they had something to do
with an artist being broke or they broke an artist in their market but it takes
more than one DJ to break an artist so DJs STOP IT PLASE!!!!

24: How do you feel about
the current state of music in general?

The
current state of music is ill!! The game needs to go in a different direction.
I’d say that there’s a crisis as far as album sales, a lot of artists are
getting robbed as far as music sales, but that’s why I’m moving. Like I said in
Lambo Life, the game is about to change.

24: What are your future
plans?

 To
take myself and my company to the next level. Make Deejays all across the
country stand up and fight for themselves and fight for and get more respect as
a Deejay. I think imma lead the change on that.

24: How can fans get in
contact with you?

They
can get in contact with me by going to
www.troy2davent.com & myspace.com/troy2davent.

24: Thank you for providing
24hourhiphop.com with this exclusive interview, do you have any last words for
your present and future fans?

I

forward to hearing from us for the rest of the summer and the end of the year.
We finna change the game!!!!!
