24: So far in your career you’ve had
the opportunity to do things some veterans haven’t accomplished yet like
performing with
UCB as part of the official
house band for the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards and the Kanye West tribute at
the 2009 Hip Hop Honors. What are some other goals you wish to achieve?

Just connect with
the people more. To see all types of people connect with my music. I want to
broaden my fanbase and touch more people because I think the content is so good
that it gets overlooked sometimes because I need to connect with radio so I
want to connect with the people more.

24: Your debut album, Attention Deficit
did quite well, there were also a few setbacks surrounding that project as well.
How do plan to go about making sure those same issues don’t happen again?

The things that went wrong were internal
issues and I think you can never really plan for those but I’m just a little
more prepared now. I know a little more about saving money and budgets.

24: Since coming into the
game, how do you feel about the current state of music in general?

I like it. It’s real competitive. I can’t be
mad at this. Hip-hop is looking good right now. Everybody is making good music.

24: You embraced the internet from the beginning of your career
when other artists were still focusing on magazines and radio. Do you feel like
you were ahead of the curve?

No. A lot of artists
get more spins then me so obviously their doing something right. Their way be
might be a little bit more effective when it comes to selling records and radio
spins. I don’t see much of a difference but I’m just kinda working with the
resources I got.

24: Do you enjoy the social networking aspect of the game or do
you look at it like it’s something you have to do?

Yea it’s cool. I really personal with my fans.
It’s give me a unique opportunity to connect with them because I remember being
a fan. I still am a fan. It gives them a chance to get in touch with their
favorite artist.

24: Do you feel like the
magazine-type websites or blogs are more valuable today to a new artist?

I think at this point, we can use whatever we
can get. Whatever publicity we can get is good.

24:
How do you feel about Gucci Mane’s recent release from prison?

That’s my homie man. He’s a good friend of
mine. We talked a lot while he was in jail. I’m just happy because he has such
a positive vibe. Just to be around him now, it feels good. He just has a
positive aura about him.

24: What are you currently
working on?

Just working with people in other cities,
building; like how hip-hop use to be. I might go to Atlanta for a little bit,
work with Drumma Boy, Rocko and Shawty Lo then come down to Miami and work with
E-Class and Poe Boy then head back to DC. It’s like my own little unofficial
tour; recording tour.

24: Tell us about the new
album your working on.

Attention Deficit 2 will probably be out in spring. It’s in the
beginning stages right now. I’m just getting creative right now.

24:
Is there any producers in mind you would like to work with on that project?

I
can’t discuss that. I learned that from last time, not to announce any
producers on the album because paperwork gets messed up, certain people don’t
make the project or certain people want too much money. When the album’s all
done that’s when you’ll find out.

24: In previous interviews, you’ve
stated how you incorporate elements of go-go music in your sound. Is that
something you always plan to continue to use?

Yea,
here and there but I won’t let it define me.

24: How would the fans go
about contacting you?

My twitter is on fire
right now (www.twitter.com/wale). I
try to keep that thing poppin’ at all times.

24: Thank you for providing 24hourhiphop.com
with this exclusive interview, do you have any last words for your present and
future fans?

Thanks
for ridin’ for me. My fanbase is a bit unorthodox and people can’t figure out
how I have so many fans when I don’t really have radio records and things like
that but I’m just blessed.
