24: The last time we spoke was when you were still signed to Warner Bros at the time back in “07” and a lot has happened since then so tell me what happened or didn’t happen over at Warner that made you ask to be released form your deal?

Wiz Khalifa: With Warner there was more of a difference in direction of where we wanted to go with the project, so we asked to be released and they granted us that with no problems at all. There’s no bad blood or anything. They were actually generous about letting us keep certain songs, etc. It was really just a career move for me and from there I just really did a lot of work on my own through the internet such as Twitter, Myspace, Ustream and connecting with my fans. Last year I put out 4 projects such as “How Fly“, “Burn After Rolling“, “Flight School” and “Deal Or No Deal” and and I think I really got people’s attention. An what “Deal Or No Deal” did independently on itunes making it to #1 and on Myspace really  just helped me get to where I’m at now. An now I’m at the point where were  taking it to the next level and pushing it to the limit in 2010 and releasing a real album and making those moves that people have been wanting to see me do.

24: From interviewing you back in 07 to seeing where your career is now I can actually say you define the meaning of “Hard Work pays Off” and it’s only the beginning for you so tell me what keeps you going and makes you keep on pushing?

Wiz Khalifa: Just like you said, just knowing the reality that “Hard Work Pays Off” and knowing the situation that nothing is going to be handed to you or just come to you. You have to always be creative and coming up with new ideas. An I always had the concept of that but I never really knew how to apply it but being over at Warner it really forced me to learn how to adapt and adjust to what was going on instead of folding and becoming another artist who could of been something. I really just buckled down and did what it took. it was something no one had to tell me to do or something I look at as an career achievement, it was just more of something I had to do.

24: How would you describe your style?

Wiz Khalifa: It’s hard to describe myself or my style without using the word versatile or diverse. But other then that its real melodic musically based and it’s pretty much going to be either uptempo or laid back. There’s a lot of soul in my music as well as rock and pop in there.

24: This is actually a two part question because right now I would say you are one of the hottest artist that’s not signed to a major but yet still you have a huge colt like following, So I wanted to know why do you think the listeners relate to you so much? An for the second part I wanted to know do you ever feel any added pressure knowing that your one of the leaders of the new school in music right now?

Wiz Khalifa: To answer the first part man it’s just a blessing that I have that colt following like you said because me being a big as a fan as I am I also been that fan who supported like it a colt following of there favorite artist. I was a huge fan of Bone Thugs-N- Harmony to the point of where I’m growing my hair out and wanting braids so I could look like one of them(lol). So I know what that feels like and what that looks like, so to have people following me like that I have to say it’s simply a wonderful thing! An that’s why I’m always thankful for it and thankful for my fans. I think the listeners relate to me so much is because my fans can tell my music is me being me and I’m being real. The message that I carry through my music is that “it’s cool to just be yourself” no matter who you are. A lot of people just know me for making music and I never tried to be something else, I never tried to be in the streets or play sports. It was all music for me, so that’s what I did and that’s what I stuck to. An through out the interviews I do I try to always tell people it’s cool to just be you and I think that helps connect me with a lot of people as well because i don’t count anyone out to enjoy my music. You don’t have to be a hipster or a hustler to enjoy my music.

24: You and Curren$y also put out a mixture that made the internet go crazy called “How Fly” so should everyone be looking out for a Pt.2 coming this year?

Wiz Khalifa: We’ll were working on something bigger and of course we will continue to keep on making music together but I think we are going to do a movie next and that will be the next big step for us and make it like one of those classics hood joints like a Friday or The Wash. Where those movies are just real big in our communities and our circle of people and it’s a culture thing and put some music to that. So the next big project were working on is the movie.

24: How did you and Curren$y link up?

Wiz Khalifa: Just real nigga shit, loll. I always heard of him but I was never the huge or big Curren$y fan and I’m not saying this in a bad way. But I always respected what he did and when I heard him rap I thought he was tight. But it was when I was going through my situation with Warner I was reaching out to a bunch of different people that I thought I could do collaborations with artist who were on my level or in the same situation that I was in and it ended up working out perfect. I think I hit him up on Myspace, this is when Myspace was popping and he sent me back a message and we ended up talking on the phone. I sent him a record and he actually never did the record but it was cool and we still keep in touch. Then one day he called me like “Yo, we gotta do this mixtape”. I flew down to New Orleans and when we met in person it was a wrap.

24: Years from now when it’s all said and done what do you want the fans to say you brought to the music world?

Wiz Khalifa: I just want them to say I brought some good music to the music world. You know “Timeless Music” the type of music you can listen to 30,40 years down the road from now and it still sounds good. There was a point where people wasn’t making music that would last but as a fan of music first I take my music serious and want my music to be around forever!

24: What’s next in line for you and Taylor Gang for 2010?

Wiz Khalifa: I have the tour right now so come check me out on the road and I will be dropping two mixtapes “Kush x Orange Juice” and “Cabin Fever” about to come out. I’m working on the album, working on singles.

24: What’s the best way for the fans to keep up to date with everything your doing from shows to videos and music?

Wiz Khalifa: Definitely, follow me on Twitter www.twitter.com/realwizkhalifa and my Myspace page at www.myspace.com/wizkhalifa all of the Tour dates are on there and for videos the readers can check us out on Youtube at www.youtube.com/taylorgangent.
