24HHH: Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about how you got into the music business and what inspired you?

Bama Baldhead: Throughout my childhood, I was always a big fan of hip hop. From
Pac and Biggie, Snoop Dogg to Bone, Thugs, and Harmony. I’ve always had a love for rap music. Being from South, I basically grew up listening to UGK, 8Ball & MJG, Dungeon Family, No Limit, and Cash Money. As I got older, I started listening to rappers from other regions. As a teenager, I often tampered with it but never took it serious. I was extremely shy about rapping. It wasn’t until I realized the “power” that words had. Once I realized that I could impact a person’s decision making from my lyrics. That’s when I started to take my lyricism seriously. Beforehand, it was just a hobby.

24HHH: What was the hip hop scene like for you growing up where your from?

Bama Baldhead: In Alabama, there was never a “rap scene”. Although we had various
artists to make it mainstream, there’s not an artist with any longevity. So being a fan of hip hop, without any consistent home state representation, you start to root for any artist from your region with any publicity. Hoping that one day, people will take our state seriously. Alabama is full of talented artists and producers. We just haven’t had our moment….yet!

24HHH: What makes you Unique as a artist and different from other rappers out now?

Bama Baldhead: My story telling ability, the emotion in my music, as well as my wittiness and lyricism…Whenever you listen to my music, I capture ,not only the listeners’ ear, I capture your heart and mind. Not only do my suspenseful lyrics grab your attention, but the emotion expressed throughout the song makes the audience want to hear more. It’s rare in today’s hip hop scene, for a “new” artist to bring you lyricism, emotion, and wittiness with a great story telling ability. Then add the fact that I’m from the deep South. This is what makes the listener gravitate to my music.

24HHH: Tell us about what you are working on?

Bama Baldhead: At the moment, I’m still promoting my debut mixtape, Peep Game which is Livemixtapes.com. Also, I’m working on the follow up mixtape. Right now, I haven’t came up with a title. But I’m continuously working. I always drop some exclusive freestyles on my soundcloud page, www.soundcloud.com/BamaBaldhead, to keep my supporters satisfied until my next mixtape is released.

24HHH: What producers have you worked with and who would you like to work with in the future?

Bama Baldhead: On my Peep Game, I had the luxury to work with a couple of upcoming producers such 6ix, who has made numerous beats for Curren$y, Dom Kennedy, and Stalley just to name a few. I also have a track on my mixtape called Go Off which is produced by Supa Villain. Supa Villain is credited to many hits from Rich Boy. I was also blessed with some beats from some upcoming producers from Alabama such as Steve-O Productions, and John Raine Productions. Be on the lookout for these guys! As far as producers that I would like to work with, I would be more than honored to work with Mannie Fresh, M-16, Big KRIT, KE on the track, and 9th just to name a few. I could sit and name producers all day. I’m willing to work with any producer that I could make good timeless music with. I’m not one of those artists who work with a producer because of their credibility. My main concern is the music. As long as it is a good song that’s timeless, meaning not trendy, then I’m willing to work with whomever.

24HHH: Are you happy with the feedback you have been getting from people on material you have released?

Bama Baldhead: I’m very excited about the recognition that I’m receiving. To release a mixtape this day in age, with limited promotion, and for it to still exceed my expectations, all I can say is that I’m truly blessed and humbled. For a minute in hip hop, new artist with lyrics weren’t getting any recognition. So coming out of Alabama and breaking that barrier, I can’t complain.

24HHH: In todays free download age, what do you need to do to make your self a household name?

Bama Baldhead: Basically just flood the social media with great music. Consistency is the key. You get out the game what you put in. So as long as I deliver great music continuously, alongside with better promotion, the only result is to become a “household name”. “Great music plus great promotion equals success”…simple mathematics! Also become accessible to your fans and supporters. Once they realize that you are someone that they can relate to, they follow your movement. Hard work will always outrun talent, but when you combine the two the rest is history!

24HHH: How do you feel about the current state of the hiphop scene?

Bama Baldhead: I like it. It has become more so pop culture. You now have people from all walks of life, rapping, making beats, etc. It’s adding to the culture as a whole. It also has become a market for young people to be able to provide for their families rather than taking negative alternatives. Hip hop is broader now than ever and continues to grow. Also, hip hop is becoming more competitive and true lyricism is making its way back to the forefront. So I am very excited.

24HHH: Outside of the music what else are you currently working on?

Bama Baldhead: I am currently working on expanding Bama Baldhead as a brand. For me, there is no “outside of music”. I’m constantly doing something pertaining to music. It’s therapy for me.

24HHH: Where do you see yourself going in 2012 and how do you plan to separate yourself from the other artist out today to get the recognition you feel you deserve?’

Bama Baldhead: Straight to the top! Like I stated before, I’m going to flood social media
with great music. Word of mouth also plays a major part in promoting my brand. I have supporters from all around the country. My music along separate me from other artists in the game. As long as I continue to work hard and deliver great music, I will receive the credit I deserve in due time.
