24: Introduce yourself to everyone that doesn’t already know who you are.

Bluntsquad: We’re the Bluntsquad, the 2012 Beastie Boys, we’re the breath of fresh air that this boring Hip-Hop scene’s been waiting on.

24: Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about how you got into and what inspired you?

Bluntsquad: I’ve just always had an ability to entertain people. I knew I wanted to do music since i was a little kid, it was either rock or rap and since I could never afford a guitar it ended up being rap. As far as inspirations, too many to name: Lil Romeo, Foxy Brown, Trina, whatever.

24: What was the Hip-Hop scene like for you growing up where you’re from?

Bluntsquad: Salt-n-Peppa was probably our biggest influence. Their dance moves more than anything, nah, on a serious tip, growing up in Yonkers, NY was all about Wu-Tang, Mobb Deep and Biggie period. After that, it was DMX and The LOX since they were from my town, but after moving to Kentucky as a teenager, my taste changed a bit. I still want to hear somebody that can spit, but you better have a dope hook too or your CD is getting Queen Latifahed.

24: What makes you Unique as an artist and different from other rappers out now?

Bluntsquad: This is my favorite question. EVERYTHING about me makes me different, but most importantly, I don’t give a fuck what anyone thinks about me. That allows me to make music outside the box. That’s what BLUNT stands for: “Be Like Us Not Them” If I wanna sing on a song, I sing on a song, if i wanna spike my hair and look like a strait d bag, I’ll spike my hair and look like a fucking douche bag, there’s something exciting about listening to an artist who’s not trying to fit in because you never know what to expect.

24: Tell us about what you are working on.

Bluntsquad: We’re working on a mixtape with DJ Hoppa right now. Our last 2 albums “Be Like Us, Not Them” are both available on iTunes, if you ain’t hip to em’ yet…catch up.

24: What producers have you worked with and who would you like to work within the future?

Bluntsquad: People are sleeping on Kentucky as a whole; not only do we have talented artists here, but talented producers as well. We get a lot of tracks from Young LORD, Spade, Young Studio, and out of town we fuck with Twin d 1st century entertainment out of South Carolina. Look out for these up and coming cats. As far as who I’d like to work with, Hi-Tek is dope and I’ve sat in on some of his sessions just never jumped on one of his beats.

24: Are you happy with the feedback you have been getting from people on material you have released?

Bluntsquad: Yeah, we’ve always had positive feedback on the music, and we really appreciate it. We’re kind of outside the box with our appearance, which generates a lot of attention whether good or bad, but we don’t worry about that.

24: In today’s free download age, what do you need to do to make yourself a household name?

Bluntsquad: Just keep making good music and make sure a lot of people are hearing it. If you can’t afford our CD, and know of a way to steal or pirate it, do it, I want you to hear it. We’ll make money off shows, features, etc. Just make sure to check us out.

24: How do you feel about the current state of the Hip-Hop scene?

Bluntsquad: ZZZzzzzZzz…it’s boring. Artists are getting lazy and listeners are accepting it. With a few exceptions, nobody wants to stand out. Everybody wants to play it safe and rap about what everyone else is rapping about and that’s boring as fuck to me. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a few artists that are doing their thing, but what makes us different is our ability to make a catchy hook on a dope beat, without sacrificing the verses. We pay close attention to detail on every song.

24: Outside of the music, what else are you currently working on?

Bluntsquad: We produce all of our own videos. Me and Jason Johnson (our manager) started a company called iFour Imaging. We do music videos, promos, shows, commercials, whatever, plus we have a location in Kentucky and in South Carolina.

24: Where do you see yourself going in 2012 and how do you plan to separate yourself from the other artist out today to get the recognition you feel you deserve?

Bluntsquad: I see 2012 as being our coming out party, it’s already been our most successful year, just half way through. Also, we’re already separated from all other artists. That’s not trying to be arrogant, just real. Go and try to find another artist that sounds like us, you’ll be hard-pressed.

24: Thank you for providing 24HourHipHop.com with this exclusive interview, do you have any last words for your present and future fans?

Bluntsquad: There’s a lot of people we would of like to give a shot out, but there’s one particular that we want to give a shot out is bizarre and weirdo movement, he always has believed in us and everything we do and has showed us mad love. He has presented us with a lot of opportunities, which helped us get to where we are today, not to mention all the fans who show support and follow us everywhere. And to anyone who ever hated or doubted don’t be scared to be different ..BE LIKE US………../.
