24HHH: Introduce yourself to everyone that doesn’t already know who you are?

Hannibal Stax: I go by the name Hannibal Stax

24HHH: How did you come up with your artist name? Tell us about it

Hannibal Stax: It was back in the mid nineties, I and my brothers were talking, and someone asked the question “if you were a great African king, who would it be?” “Hannibal was my response, It stuck since then. They call me “Stax” because I’m a goodfella, but the spelling comes from the record label back in the days. When I was a child I thought they were the makers of all music.

24HHH: Where are you from and what was it like growing up there?

Hannibal Stax: I’m from Brooklyn, East New York. It was probably like any other hood, you got your good times and your bad time. East New York was a melting pot back then with plenty different cultures.

24HHH: Who were you raised by? Tell us your family situation. Got any brothers, sisters, or any siblings? Tell us about your childhood, and how it impacted your music?

Hannibal Stax: I was raised by my grandmother and mother. I have to two younger sisters and no brothers; I was the only child until about 14. As a child I saw a lot of things, somethings a child shouldn’t see at a young age. But I can say that it gave me something to write about.

24HHH: What age did you start making music?

Hannibal Stax: I started writing music when I was about 13, but didn’t start recording until I was 20.

24HHH: What inspired you to pursue making music?

Hannibal Stax: Many different things inspired me to do music but probably the most significant was being exposed to it. I was going to video shoots and shows with homies that I grew up with, just being in that environment all the time it makes you want to contribute a verse or two.

Hannibal Stax: Some artist I worked with were GURU, Dj Premier , Freddie Foxxx, True Master, Lil Dap From Group Home, Oc, Master Killer(Wu Tang), Blahzay Blahzay, just to name a few. And when it comes to rubbing shoulders the list is too long, I graced the same stage with some of the biggest names in the game.

24HHH: What else you got coming out? New Album? Or Mixtape/EP?

Hannibal Stax: I started working on a new album, but I’m taking some time to master the business aspects of the game a little. A mixtape is sure to come and possibly an EP.

24HHH: Tell us about your newest single "Warriorz Drum", how did you come up with that, share us the story?

Hannibal Stax: My newest single “Warriorz Drum” feat Torae. I was just reminiscing about my childhood on that track, like growing up from a boy to a man and with music being my drug and my pain killer.
