24: Introduce yourself to everyone that doesn’t already know who you are.

Khari G: Was good world, my name is Khari G and I am an independent artist from Southeast DC, Wheeler Road to be exact.

24: Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about how you got into and what inspired you?

Khari G: I started rapping seriously when I was 16, but I was always rhyming for fun growing up as a kid. I tried to play basketball in high school and unfortunately that wasn’t what I was meant to do, so I did what any other teenager who loved music would do: just keep on rapping.

24: What was the Hip-Hop scene like for you growing up where you’re from?

Khari G: Where I’m from, all of my friends always listened to artists who were the hottest in the city, and I was right along with them. But to be completely honest I was always into Gogo more at first.

24: What makes you Unique as a artist and different from other rappers out now?

Khari G: The difference between me and most artists is that I rap for fun. And I don’t mean to sound conceited or cocky by saying that but I just love rhyming words for real. I was a spelling be champ when I was in elementary school so my vocabulary varies from time to time…let’s just say I can adapt within different environments.

24: Tell us about what you are working on.

Khari G: Well I just dropped my first independent “$tay Tuned” on DatPiff and I am anticipating my next mix tape “Smoker’s Session the EP” hosted by Dj Dirty Dollarz and MPMG Mixtapes on June 25th. That drops on DatPiff,HotNewHipHop,LiveMixtapes, and Coast2Coast Mixtapes. It has special features on there from LightShow & Members from SluttyBoyz. I have also been working on a big collar project to drop after Smoker’s Session, but thats all I’m going to say about that.

24: What producers have you worked with and who would you like to work with in the future?

Khari G: I have did a few sessions up Listen Vision Studios and been working with my newfound home studio by my boy King Trice. I also have plans with working with BassHed Music Group in the near future and honestly I don’t mind working with different producers so I don’t have a specific person that I can single out. I have no problems with collaborating with people because it builds connections so to whoever hears my music and wants to work, feel free to discuss business with me.

24: Are you happy with the feedback you have been getting from people on material you have released?

Khari G: Actually I have been happy, however I’m not satisfied because at the end of the day If I don’t like my material then I sit and evaluate myself to see what aspect can I hit next to attract a bigger audience, so constructive criticism is appreciated yet opinionated in my mind.

24: In today’s free download age, what do you need to do to make your self a household name?

Khari G: To get myself to that point, I just have to keep working harder and master and perfect my craft. I like to switch my flow up sometimes because I still haven’t found one that I feel completely comfortable with. But don’t worry the verses will just keep coming and coming. To be honest , I just gotta keep grinding. I learned along time ago that no one will invest in you if you don’t invest in yourself. I know my potential and I know that my true passion is music. So regardless of what happens I will still be satisfied to say that I put my mind to something and made it work out to the best of my abilities.

24: How do you feel about the current state of the Hip-Hop scene?

Khari G: I feel as if there are not that many local artists that get the respect they deserve. I know at least four local artists in the DMV that been at this longer than I have and make good music but don’t get as much recognition that they deserve, and those are the artist I have been trying to reach out to to get some work in.

24: Outside of the music, what else are you currently working on?

Khari G: I been talking to a friend of mine about a clothing line idea, but that’s up in the air at this moment.

24: Where do you see yourself going in 2013 and how do you plan to separate yourself from the other artist out today to get the recognition you feel you deserve?

Khari G: For the rest of this year I plan on working on more projects to drop for my fans and continue to build a stronger promotion team. And to separate myself from everyone else I gotta grind at least 3 times as harder to make my way to the top.

24: How can fans go about contacting you?

Khari G: Everybody can follow me on twitter @jigga2timez , my instagram @kharig_otfp and for serious inquiries only you can email me at thekharig@gmail.com.

24: Thank you for providing 24HourHipHop.com with this exclusive interview, do you have any last words for your present and future fans?

Khari G: I would like to thank everyone who been supporting and playing my music and giving me constructive criticism. I would not be where I am now musically in my career if it wasn’t for you. And for my new fans, if need be catch up with everybody and go download “$tay Tuned” on DatPiff. And feel free to let me know if you liked it or not. #otfp
