24: What they do y’all this is Knotti here with local Miami artist King Kong to let us know what’s been going on with him.

King Kong: Well Hey what’s up America this is ya boy King Kong and I’m already letting you know man right now it’s Oct. 2007 and we got King Kong The Collection in the streets now!!! Tell me how many dude you know not signed understand what I’m trying to say coming out with a collection. I got a feature with Juvenile on the album, I got Bushwick Bill on the album, I got Des Loc of Piccalo on the album, and we just doing it real big for the 07. I mean look out for that King Kong truck coming to a hood near you. You can get my video on video mix right now, you got to call up Video Mix ((305) 439- 0477) and request that “Need a Pimp” and that “Whip It Real Hard”. You can hit me up myspace/kingkong305 that’s where you can catch me at.

24: So what part of the hood are you representing in Florida?

King Kong: Well you already know…I’m from Scott Lake and if you don’t know that’s in Carol City, Florida we do it real big over here in the M-I-A 305 all day long. But you know I fuck with everybody no matter where you from, If you from Opa-Locka, Over Town, Liberty City, Hialeah, Little Haiti, no matter where man I mess with you, just holla at me when you see me in the streets.

24: Tell everyone how you got into the music scene?

King Kong: This is God’s gift baby, this is the way it went down, I didn’t choose this, it chose me you know what I’m saying. Like one or two years ago rap was not on my agenda, it was real. I had to get it how I live, and the Lord brought me from that so I can do something positive with my time and with my energy now.

24: What advice do you have for aspiring artist out there trying to get videos and album’s done?

King Kong: The only thing I can tell anybody that is trying this, like what I’m doing is to stay strong at it, and just keep doing it all day everyday. It has to be your life, you got to live it, if you don’t live it then it will never do anything for you. So to turn from a hobby to a job, you got to work hard.

24: How you feel about the Miami Hip Hop scene right now, the heads that represent Miami and what they are doing for local artist?

King Kong: I don’t know. I know I’m in the streets, I know dudes in the streets, I know a lot of hot dudes in the streets, Cutta Man, ATP, Focus the hustler, Toro, I mean just dudes that’s in the streets and then I see the big name Trick Daddy, Rick Ross, Pitbull but I see no ties in there. I see no DJ Khaled pulling no artist saying this is a local dude here and he’s just doing his thing man. I just feel like big names need to reach back and I mean not for me (laughs) I’m good you know what I’m saying, my path is already set but all these other dudes who still here struggling. I feel some of these big names need to help bring up some of these little names like people who you know Cutta Man, who ever it may be, Bully the Beast all these dudes are hot dudes man these are all dudes who could be selling millions of records but I feel like its bottle necking. I feel like the big names don’t want the little names to get on because they might not want more big names. I don’t need anybody to look out for me, I’m straight, you can look at me and vouch for that. I just wish some of the big names will help out some of the little names of niggas that’s on my level and under and bring them up you know.

24: With that said you trying to stay independent or you looking for a major label deal?

King Kong: I’m chasing the money, where ever the major money is, where ever I’m going to make money regardless whether it do good or bad, that’s where I’ll be because I’m gonna work hard at it man and I’m not in a rush to get with no major because I’m already doing my thing making money independent but if it comes about where I can go major, I’d have to be a fool not to go for that money. I’m not going to sit here and tell you I’m going to be independent, I’m chasing the money where ever the money at that’s where I’ll be.

24: How will you change the game for hip hop period and or Miami?

King Kong: I hear a lot of dudes saying stuff on records man that any dude who ever did that before, would not say you understand, so I just want to keep it as real as possible. At the end of the day it’s entertainment so if you hear a lot of gun fights and that on my records, I don’t go through that anymore ya feel me, but I just feel like I want to bring the real to it I want to be versatile and show that I can do the Hip Hop, I can do the gangsta rap whatever is hot right now that’s what I’ll be doing, I don’t really want to say I will change with the times but at the same time once I make my stamp in the game I want to change the times ya dig. What I will put in the game is some realness, some well thought about NOT just getting high saying what ever I want to say on these tracks, I’m going to really think about it and make it clever so y’all just got to listen

24: What do you think it takes to make a super star or to be successful in the hip hop game?

King Kong:  I don’t want to sound cliche`, but longevity. You just got to stay hot and current, constantly perfecting your craft. That’s why a lot of dudes have been in the game so long. Then you have to think about all those names that came and left as soon as they came, they were the people that couldn’t keep it current. They got in the game and I don’t wanna say …but people come with their music… and right now this rock star thing is out so everybody wants go for that rock star mentality. At the end of the day that’s only gonna be here for a sec. Two years ago it wasn’t on no rock star so what you going to do two years from now? Understand what I’m trying to say? I mean one thing that they’re always going to love if a dude keeps it gangsta and keeps it real, because no matter what if you talking about what’s going on in the streets it’s always going to stay current to the people. So that’s one thing I don’t have to worry about like falling off because I’m always in the streets everyday and I’m gone tell you what’s current what out right now you see what I’m trying to say and that’s real.

24: Anything else you want the people to know that they don’t know already about King Kong?

King Kong: King Kong is an ordinary person. I’m like Boosie, I’m an ordinary person but I’m paid. That’s all people got to understand. If you aren’t approaching me about any foolishness, you can approach me but if it’s something stupid, keep it to your self that’s all I got to say. If it’s stupid just keep it too ya self bruh.

24: Shot Outs?

King Kong: I just want to shot out the whole Dade County, the New Dade County, roll with us or get rolled over you already know, the movement coming right now, the new Dade County 305, you done seen the t-shirts, we coming with more, and more, and more it’s gonna get bigger and bigger.
