24: Introduce yourself to everyone that doesn’t already know who you are.

L.I.E.: We are L.I.E. a soulful/ R&B / Hip-Hop infused band coming out of New York city. Unlike most vocalists out today our music is very deep and addresses topics beyond love and romance. We are very versatile and you find quality singing and rapping in our music. We constantly hear the Outkast comparison which is one we embrace because we feel we share many similarities to them.

24: Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about how you got into and what inspired you?

L.I.E.: We’ve released 3 projects thus far, a mixtape entitled “A Long Way” Home” and our debut album “Without Money” that is available on iTunes. After earning our distribution deal with Barefoot Distribution in June 2012 our “Without Money” album has been made available in Japan. The online presence we’ve built has been great as we’ve reached half a million views on our Youtube channel independently .

24: What was the Hip-Hop scene like for you growing up where you’re from?

L.I.E.: The scene was inspiring to artist like us. You hear a great deal of New York Hip-Hop influence in our music that is completely undeniable. As time has went on the Hip-Hop scene in the industry has seemed to move from the east coast to the west coast and down south but being from New York there’s a East coast culture of music and Hip-Hop that we can’t shake and refuse to get away from because this is the city that made us.

24: What makes you Unique as a artist and different from other rappers out now?

L.I.E.: What makes us different is our lyricism and production. We work tightly with our 316 Music Group Production family which has produced all of our 3 projects. Making music is different when you constantly do it with the same team of people because chemistry is built and there’s nothing like hearing chemistry in music. It’s everything and more.

24: Tell us about what you are working on.

L.I.E.: We have released our new project entitled “Pier 17” that is being featured here in this article along with a new video to the leading single from the mixtape entitled “Sell Me The World”. Our supporters have been anxiously waiting for a new project and it feels great to finally come through with this “Pier 17” mixtape and give them what they want.

24: What producers have you worked with and who would you like to work with in the future?

L.I.E.: We work with our producer S. Leaks and Ron from our 316 Music Group. We are all family, so we’ve been working together forever literally. As far as producers we want to work with the list goes on. But to name a few Neptunes, Stevie Wonder, Kanye, Jusblaze, Timbaland, Hit Boy.

24: Are you happy with the feedback you have been getting from people on material you have released?

L.I.E.: The feedback has been crazy. We feel “Pier 17” is our best mix tape thus far as it should be. We kept it very true to life, edgy and fresh and people have really seemed to catch on and appreciate it. We were ridding around our city the day after we released the tape and seen a car full of girls speeding by listening to our project lol that made us know we put out A + quality music as we planned to.

24: In today’s free download age, what do you need to do to make yourself a household name?

L.I.E.: Most importantly ambition. The reason we say that is because money isn’t the same in the industry as it used to be unfortunately the value of music has depreciated drastically and people don’t want to pay for music as they once did. So it takes a lot to give away hard work that you’ve put in for free but being we consider ourselves strong performers we know that our concerts and shows will ultimately take us to the level of exposure and notoriety that we want to reach.

24: How do you feel about the current state of the Hip-Hop scene?

L.I.E.: I feel that it’s in a good place and has gotten extremely better than it was a couple of years ago. When snap music was popular and considered hip hop that hurt people like us that love the true essence of what real Hip-Hop is all about but I think with new artists coming up like ourselves Hip-Hop will be taken back to the level where all lovers of it can appreciate.

24: Outside of the music what else are you currently working on?

Free: We are very active in modeling, acting and anything entertainment driven. 316 Music Group is our production team and we have a total of 3 artists. L.I.E. , Lauren Legato and Takemia Haze. We’re all from New York and have something that makes us completely different from what’s already out so our goal is to make sure the world gets to know what we know about our team.

24: Where do you see yourself going in 2013 and how do you plan to separate yourself from the other artist out today to get the recognition you feel you deserve?

Free: We plan to take our buzz and exposure to national platform. We’re very well known along the east coast and have a landed a distribution deal in Japan that we’re very proud of but we plan to have majority of the 50 states to have a profound understanding of L.I.E. and who we are and the way we make that happen is to continue to be true to ourselves and our craft because that’s what has brought up this far and the success we’ve had.
