24HHH: Introduce yourself to everyone that doesnt already know who you are

Lael Rockwell: Lael Rockwell Born in Pasadena California but raised in Far Rockaway Ocean Village Queens NY and Harrisburg PA. I breath hip hop the culture that defines me and molded me into not just a lyricist, but a true artist.

24HHH: Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about how you got into and what inspired you

Lael Rockwell: Hip Hop has always been at the forefront of my existance but I must say that Nas’s illmatic shaped my perseption of true lyricism. It allowed me to explore words like mathmatical equations.

24HHH: What was the hip hop scene like for you growing up where your from

Lael Rockwell: Well hip hop where I dwell was always about lyricism and word play. I fused both and decided to tell stories… some fiction and some non fiction based on being a product of my surroundings

24HHH: What makes you Unique as a artist and different from other rappers out now

Lael Rockwell: I believe what makes me different is the fact that I just remain who I am and not conform. Hip Hop is about expression and creativity but I believe it is also an unlimited amount of possibilty. Some
try a bit too hard to be different that they lose sight of who they are and end up just like everyone else. I use hip hop as forum to create different avenues for myself. I tell stories which the listeners can visiualize as a film
played out right before their eyes. I like using hip hop as a canvas to paint colorful stories that can be seen from different perspectives while maintaining who I am.

24HHH: Tell us about what you are working on

Lael Rockwell: Just complete a short film titled “Kingdom Revenge Is Sweet” which is an introduction to my current mixtape “Kingdom The Motion Picture” album. The mixtape is set up as a movie and each video/short film will display that concept.
I wanted to take a unique approach that would take the audience on a journey without the even realizing that they are taking that journey. Their is a host of characters that represent different aspecs of my life and what I might have seen or been through from a certain point of view
There is a lot of cliff hangers and twists while still staying true to hip hop in it’s rawest form. We will be shooting the sequel soon and then I’m working on the follow up which will be an actual album. My ambition is major!

24HHH: What producers have you worked with and who would you like to work with in the future

Lael Rockwell: I am very selective who I work with because they have to see the vision and connect with it, I’m loyal to my brother roboh becuase he gets me and embraces the vision. We founded roboh productions together but he is the mad scientist behind it all. His beats are a force to be reckognized.
I would love to work with No i.d and Premier, as well as Black Milk and 88 Keys cause they have that it factor when it comes to beats, but I’m roboh productions for life.

24HHH: Are you happy with the feedback you have been getting from people on material you have released

Lael Rockwell: Yeah I’m getting some ill feedback that has helped me elivate and that’s what I want. I want honesty and realism without the yes man syndrome. So far my fans have been amazing and appreciative about my work.

24HHH: In todays free download age, what do you need to do to make your self a household name

Lael Rockwell: Stay focused on your craft and never come face to face with compacent actions. You have to always be on your A game and stay creative. The only person I challenge is myself.

24HHH: How do you feel about the current state of the hiphop scene

Lael Rockwell: Well that’s tricky because I love how hip hop continues to grow and evolve. We have so many different elements in hip hop now that we didn’t have years ago and I love that. Whether you are from the dirty south, wild west, mid west, or east coast
Hip Hop is alive and well. I don’t hate on any artist trying to contribute to this culture. I just stay focused on doing my part and giving the world good music.

24HHH: Outside of the music what else are you currently working on

Lael Rockwell: Well I’m a movie dude so I’m working on a few projects involving independent films and directing.

24HHH: Where do you see yourself going in 2014 and how do you plan to separate yourself from the other artist out today to get the recognition you feel you deserve

Lael Rockwell: I see my growth as a chance to teach people that you don’t have to look outside what you know to stay relevant… nough said
