24: Introduce yourself to everyone that doesn’t already know who you are.

PhillaBrougham: For those who don’t know me , my name is PhillaBrougham and I’m not only the C.E.O. Of Money Rich Ent. , I am also an artist on the label as well.

24: Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about how you got into and what inspired you?

PhillaBrougham: As a youngster coming up, I was inspired by all kinds of music from the Maze, Bobby Womack and Roger and Zapp, my father listened to. Run DMC, EPMD, Public Enemy, and Too Short my older brother listened to. It all inspired me to wanna make music.

24: What was the Hip-Hop scene like for you growing up where you’re from?

PhillaBrougham: The Hip-Hop scene in the Bay Area when I was growing up was all about the independent artists and doing your own thang, seeing people like Too Short, Master P and No Limit, E-40, and Sic Wit It come up and make a name for themselves in the industry after slangin’ tapes outta the trunk definitely started a trend in the area.

24: What makes you Unique as a artist and different from other rappers out now?

PhillaBrougham: What makes me unique as an artist is that I do me(PhillaBrougham). I don’t try to do what the new industry trend is every time one comes around. I don’t knock anyone who does but that ain’t me. I stay in my lane.

24: Tell us about what you are working on.

PhillaBrougham: Right now, my solo album “PHD Hustle” is out right now, you can cop that from iTunes, Rhapsody, Google Play, Amazon MP3, Simfy, and Emusic. I also have a group the Black Collar Hustlaz and we just finished our album called “Black Collar Hustlin” so that will be dropping soon.

24: What producers have you worked with and who would you like to work with in the future?

PhillaBrougham: In the past, I’ve worked with producers like Tone Kapone, Heat Makerz, and my friend, mentor and colleague Ken “k-Lou” Franklin. Currently, I’m working with PimpSlapz on the Trackz, but in the future I’m open to working with any of the up and coming producers all the way up to the greats like Dr.Dre, the Neptunes, Swizz Beatz, Timberland, Cool & Dre, the list goes on. I can’t turn down nothing but my collar….lol.

24: Are you happy with the feedback you have been getting from people on material you have released?

PhillaBrougham: I’m very motivated from the feedback I’ve been getting back from people about the material I’ve released because I know that it’s just a matter of time before me and the Money Rich Ent. family as a whole will be where we plan to be.

24: In today’s free download age, what do you need to do to make yourself a household name?

PhillaBrougham: In today’s free download age, I feel like the only way to make yourself a household name is to grind the old fashion way using today’s technology. I don’t think they’ve came up with a substitute for hard work yet and I believe it still pays off. They say “your network determines your net worth” and I believe that , I also believe you have to have product that can compete with some good marketing strategies. And last but not least you need some money.

24: How do you feel about the current state of the Hip-Hop scene?

PhillaBrougham: To me, I feel like “it is what it is” with the current state of Hip-Hop because all things evolve for better or for worse I still love it. Nothing is the same as it was 10 or 20 years ago or even 5 years ago for that matter the NBA ain’t the same as when magic ,bird and Jordan played but that don’t doesn’t mean I don’t love the NBA anymore it just evolved.

24: Outside of the music, what else are you currently working on?

PhillaBrougham: Outside of the music, I’m working on getting my clothing label off the ground and working on a script so I can start shooting this movie with my boy A.J. Pavel.

24: Where do you see yourself going in 2012 and how do you plan to separate yourself from the other artists out today to get the recognition you feel you deserve?

PhillaBrougham: In 2012, I see myself continuing to make progress in the right direction. I know it’s not a sprint it’s a marathon , and I’m prepared to go the distance. The only way to get the recognition I want is to stay determined keep the desire and stay disciplined I think if I follow that motto I’ll reach my goal.
