March 9, 2009 Billboard: Hip-Hop & R&B Top 10
Before I get into the Hip-Hop & R&B Top 10 Singles of the week, I want extend a congratulations to Flo Rida for peaking in at number 1 on the Billboards 100, Pop 100, and Hot Digital Tracks with his smash hit ‘Right Round.’ Flo has been reigning in on the charts at number 1 for the past couple of weeks next to Jamie Foxx, who is still holding down the number 1 spot on the R&B side for a while now as well. His ‘Blame It’ single has been hitting radio airwaves at an all time high for the past several weeks since its release. With the assistance of T-Pain, the record is dominating on a higher level. Between ‘Blame It’ and Keri Hilson’s ‘Turn Me On, they’ve been competing for the number one spot back and forth for the past three weeks. Hilson has both Polow Da Don and Lil Wayne on her side on an extremely hot record; I must admit its continued chart domination is inevitable. The Polow produced track has kept the club goers nodding their heads and keeping the hype in the air. Beyonce captures the third spot still reigning at the top with her ‘Diva’ single which has been pulsating in the clubs for some time now. The fact that Bangladesh and Sean Garrett produced the track probably exemplifies the reasoning behind this hit single. Bangladesh was the main reason behind Wayne’s ‘A Milli,’ so it’s quite obvious.
The people have spoken, ‘Ain’t I’ is one of the hottest tracks in radio rotation all across the nation. T.I. has signed a hit with this artist and Grand Hustle continues to hold down the South. Yung LA does his thing with this club banger as it peaks in at 7 right above another Southern banger in Soulja Boy’s ‘Kiss Me Through the Phone.’ Sammie’s assisted vocal talents is what makes this track a hit single, the hook damn near makes the entire track. Mad Props to Soulja Boy for a song that has nothing to do with a dance, the track peaks in at number 9 for this week. And coming in at number 10 is Keyshia Cole’s single ‘You Complete Me.’ After 13 weeks on the charts, that song is still killing them on the radio. This week’s number 1 album on the charts yet again is Jamie Foxx’s ‘Intuition,’ I must admit, the people love this album. Reigning in at number 2 and 3 is Charlie Wilson’s ‘Uncle Charlie’ and Keyshia Cole’s ‘A Different Me.
