Recently, it seems like this is the new phrase for 2007. Between artists like Young Dro, Yung Joc, T-Pain, Ray Lavender and J Holiday releasing songs and lyrics about their main significant others having their own girlfriends on the side, making it quite possibly the new and sexy trend in relationships nowadays, question that lingers, what are they trying to impose? At first, it was just a bold statement that Young Dro of Grand Hustle just happened to mention in a song, that one verse opened a new chapter in female same sex relationships. Coincidentally, was he trying to trigger something about certain women in the industry, or was it just a line to stir controversy?

Controversy or not, one female Hip-Hop artist has been in the limelight lately being questioned about her current sexual preference. The former First Lady of Ruff Ryders, Ms. Eve, has been hounded for the past several months by paparazzi and media pressing her about her sexuality. That being said, she has been reported to be associated with a lesbian group called Girls of the Night, where she was a host of one of their parties. It was apparently a huge turnout. Eve goes on to state that there have been times that she is approached by women periodically throughout the week, but she holds her claim on being straight and tells them politely that she strictly sticks to guys. However, within the past month, sources confirm that during a visit to Miami, staying at the Setai Hotel in South Beach, she was reported ordering a female escort to her room. That same escort was seen leaving Eve’s hotel room several hours later. You be the judge?

Former Playboy centerfold and heartthrob of the 90’s has recently been active in the Lesbian scene lately as well. Alongside Gabrielle Union and Eve, Stacey Dash has also been hosting a couple of Girls of the Night gala events. Apparently, she was a huge celebrity during the Gay Pride Weekend and has been dedicating a lot of her time to that group.

I’m not quite sure whether it should be called a trend or a lifestyle, either way the Hip-Hop world glorifies the whole “my girl gotta girlfriend” phrase and making huge hits off of it. On the real, I see no problem with it, if my girl had a girlfriend, I can honestly say I wouldn’t be offended, just so long as we all share the wealth, there’s more for me.
