24: Tell me what was it like living in Phoenix, Arizona and trying to get into the music industry?

Willy NothPole: You know when you see the mouse or rat trying to get through the maze? That's how it was man; I can't explain it no better then that.

24: How did you get signed to DTP (Disturbing The Peace)?

Willy NorthPole: My manager Tiffany Johnson (of Blue Family Tree) got in contact with me on Myspace and we actually knew each other from when we was younger, but we chopped it up and I made her my manager it was between her and Sha Money XL and I chose her. From there on she started shopping my music and a few labels were interested but DTP was the first label to really jump on the project and we inked the deal.

24: Tell me about the Hip Hop scene in Phoenix because not too many people have been there and maybe mislead when it comes to music, style and way of life out there in the West?

Willy NorthPole: The Hip Hop scene is real heavy and we have a lot of talent but no record labels, A&R's or Music Executives. It's a lot of garbage and good music at the same time and a lot of us wanted to show what Arizona really is because were city boys just like everyone else, its not mountains and deserts. You have to understand it's like living with a bunch of brothers and a lot of them want to rap to so you have more hate & love. Also everyone wanted to be the first one to come out and put the city on the map. So with me being born and raised here in Arizona and being accepted by the streets it made it much easier for me to come out and everyone say okay Willy holding us down so we can fall back and play our positions.

24: With you and Hot Rod in the music industry, what's next for Phoenix and which artist or group do you think will make their mark in the game soon?

Willy NorthPole: I would have to say my boy Q, were working on his situation and trying to get him signed right now. Hot Rod myself and Q Ball are all from the same clique called Men Of Squad its 4 of us and all of us have deals except Q so we working on that and because of his grind, talent and hustle I would say he's next.

24: I know DTP has a new compilation CD coming out and your featured on a couple of songs, so what should the fans expect to hear from you?

Willy NorthPole: I'm on there showing my ass off on there, I have about 4 records that I'm on and I knew I had to set that bar with this being my biggest debut to date.

24: On the single you have out now "Body Marked Up" you spit "New York ghetto pass ask 50 (50 Cent)" what did you mean by that line?

Willy NorthPole: Through the Hot Rod situation with G-Unit I got to know 50 and realized he was a cool nigga and we vibed. Before I met him I believed the snitching, security, the whole time I was with 50 I never seen no security. 50 Cent has a driver and a bulletproof car that he gets drove around in and he takes care of his people. That's one thing I can say about him he really takes care of his niggaz, I'm not his brother and we not buddy, buddy like that but on his behalf I'm letting niggaz know he's a real nigga. If he got love for you he gone show you that but if he don't you see what he do.

24: What did you learn about the music industry being around Hot Rod when he got signed to G-Unit?

Willy NorthPole: I learned how to do radio drops and different song formats and get out of the old three 16 bar verses and learn how to write a 12 bar verse with a bridge. I recorded with Hot Rod also and 50 Cent taught me a couple of things and me just watching him I learned a lot.

24: What do you think your debut album will bring to the music world when it drops?

Willy NorthPole: It's only a few rappers that's out that I can say that is making good music right now, I'm real picky and I am not even listening to rap music right now I listen to R&B and other shit. I am actually upset with Hip Hop right now because we need more artists that are actually making songs! Everyone seems to be getting caught up in making club singles, that's cool but if your follow up single is not as good you're stuck. So what I want to do is release a real song as a single for example Kanye West new single "Cant Tell Me Nothing" that's a song and that makes me want to buy his album. This is what I'm trying to do with my album I have concepts and stories along with skits because I'm trying to create something like how the "Chronic" was.

24: Who are some of the producers you have been working with for your project?

Willy NorthPole: I have been working with a lot of these producers before my deal with DTP like Bangladesh, Nitti, HeatMakers, a couple of producers from Arizona (Big Fraze & King David), Trak Star, along with tracks from Pollow Da Don, Jazze Pha, and Don Cannon who is also doing my new mixtape right now. I think I'm working with a good amount of talented producers because I'm not going after producers just because they have big names. Not to mention the youngest one of them all Lil Wonka (15 yrs old) who is actually the producer who helped me get signed with the track he did "Body Marked Up".

24: Is there any artist who you always respected and want to get on your up coming album?

Willy NorthPole: It's really hard to say but who would not want to work with Hov. I guess Kanye, Young Jeezy, but its like I said before, I'm not to happy with Hip Hop right now ask me about some R&B artist and I'll have a whole lot. Can't forget 50 Cent and we are trying to work on that right now, 50 is a real nigga.

24: Outside of working on your album what are some other things coming up for you?

Willy NorthPole: I would say outside form the album is getting this media shit down pack, I'm cool with interviews but all the lights in your face I'm not use to that as yet. Plus for all of my new music the fans can check out the Myspace page at WWW.MYSPCAE.COM/WILLYNORTHPOLE.
