Brothers Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory were sentenced to 30 years in federal prison this weekend for running the Black Mafia Family. The BMF ran a cocaine distribution ring that spanned the entire country for almost 2 decades.  Big Meech, who has been name checked by many rappers in their songs, has been held in a federal prison for the last two years while the trial was going on. The brothers came under notice of the feds around 2003 after they began erecting billboards, yes billboards, proclaiming that the world was theirs. Smart right?

Both him and his brother again showed their massive intelligence (smell a hint of sarcasm?) during the trial as they both  took plea deals to avoid getting life in prison. However with their respective ages, Meech 40, and Terry  38, they might as well have just took it all the way and fought it. Since there is no parole option in the federal prison system they both will get out around the age of 70 so really what’s the difference between that and life? Anyhow it is not yet known where they will be serving their sentences since their enterprise stretched over the entire country. The indictments that came with the downfall of the BMF have resulted in over 150 convictions which have destroyed the once empirical organization. No comments have come out yet from the hip hop community regarding the sentences but I’m sure we’ll get some good ignorant quotes in not too long.
