According to reports, the rapper has been cast opposite Alicia Keys, Ben Affleck, Andy Garcia and Ray Liotta in the upcoming film. The ensemble cast also includes "Entourage" star Jeremy Piven as an informant trying to survive assassins (Affleck, Keys) and the mob for one last casino run to Lake Tahoe before going into protective custody.
This will not be Com's first on-screen role. He has previously guest starred on both UPN's "Girlfriends" and "One on One."
While Smokin' Aces just began production, fans can catch a glimpse of Common fulfilling his acting jones with his current video, "Testify." The video has a cinematic feel and features a number of actors, including Taraji Henson, Wood Harris, Bill Duke and Steve Harris.
Despite leaving from the "Touch the Sky" bill, Com joined Kanye West on stage at the tour's Miami opener for "Get 'Em High" and "Go." He is expected to make other appearances as his film schedule permits.
West has not booked a replacement performer for Common. Meanwhile, Keyshia Cole and "American Idol" winner Fantasia are opening acts and West is expanding his set of songs from The College Dropout and Late Registration.
