As America elected their first black president Barack Obama on Tuesday night, former Motown President Jheryl Busby passed away in his home in Malibu, California. Word is that Busby was found dead in his hot tub. There is no fact how he did but the leading clue is being an accidental drowning.

Busby was born in 1949; he got in the music business by doing promotional work for Stax Records in the 1970’s, which led to ventures like Casablanca, Atlantic, and A&M Records. By when 1984 came around, Busby was given his first major job as Vice President of MCA Records' black music division, which further established him as a legitimate figure in the industry.

Jheryl Busby moved to Motown Records as CEO in 1988, he turned the label that was going downwards into a hot bed of success, signing artists like Boyz II Men and also working closely with artist likes Stevie Wonder, Lionel Ritchie, and Queen Latifah.

The entire staff at 24hourhiphop.com wants to send our deepest condolences to Jheryl Busby’s family and relatives. He will not be forgotten. Rest in Peace Jheryl Busby.
