Jadakiss Pleads Not Guilty
Read 809 Times Since Posted on 0000-00-00 Jadakiss was recently indicted on charges of marijuana possession and possession of a loaded handgun. The rapper entered a plea of not guilty on both charges yesterday (February 8) in Westchester County Court. The Yonkers-born rapper (born Jason Phillips) was arrested along with three other men on October 7 after being pulled over in his hometown of Yonkers, NY. The rapper was subsequently held in Westchester County jail without immediate bail being determined. Police reported stopping the vehicle the rapper was in after smelling marijuana and subsequently found a loaded gun. "I have yet to see or hear of any evidence connecting my client to possessing this weapon," said Clement Patti, Jada's lawyer. Patti contends that Jadakiss was merely a passenger in the back seat of the vehicle and was unaware of the gun in the front console of the car. If convicted of the charges, the rapper could face a maximum sentence ranging
from 16 months to seven years in prison. Laws governing the jurisdiction were
recently altered to mandate a minimum sentence of three and a half years for
such a crime. Two of the other men arrested in the incident are facing similar
charges.
