Janet Scores Number 1; Webbie, Shawty Lo Debut In Top 20
Debuting on the charts last
week were a collection of artists that range from Hip-Hop to R&B.
Even first week releases made the top album charts while some even stayed
at the top after a several weeks of their initial release. Veteran artist Janet Jackson
debuted at number 1 last week with her album 'Discipline' moving 181,000 CD's in the first week. Right above
Erykah Badu ‘s 'New Amerykah Part 1' that came in at number 2 moving 124,000 units. After
16 weeks on the charts, Alicia Keys with As I Am is still reigning
in at the top ranking in at number 5. Further down the charts, fellow
R&B diva Mary J. Blige’s Growing Pains is still ranking
in at number 11 after being 11 weeks on. Definitely have to give
it to both these four legends for releasing albums that made the top.
Ranking in at number 16 after being on the charts for over 23 weeks,
another R&B vocalist, Keyshia Cole is still holding it down on the
top 20 level with her album Just Like You. In the rap portion of the charts,
Webbie ranked in at number 4 with his sophomore LP 'Savage Life 2' moving 72,500 units,
after its initial first week release. Webbie’s single, Independent,
is still in heavy rotation on radio stations across the nation. D4L CEO Shawty Lo
released his debut album, 'Units in the City' and ranked in at number
13 after its first week’s release which moved 31,000 units. His single Dey Know is hitting
the club scene crucial and this is including his remix featuring several
other fellow major artists in the rap game today. Congratulations to all those
artists that made Top 20 on the chart toppers, some on their first week
debut, to the others that stayed on the charts for several weeks. Ya’ll be on the lookout for: Rick Ross – Trilla in stores March 11, 2008 Flo Rida – Mail on Sunday in stores March 18, 2008
