With oversight by Sean "Jay-Z" Carter, who collaborated with Shinoda on the mash-up album, Collision Course, The Rising Tied features an eclectic mixed of guests from both the rock and hip-hop world. The album, the first project from Shinoda's new hip-hop band, Fort Minor, hosts appearances by Common, John Legend, Kenna, Black Thought and LP's Joe Hahn along with Styles of Beyond and Holly Brook. Shinoda produced the entire album, playing every instrument, minus the strings.

"The Fort Minor record is all about getting back to basics in Hip-Hop, both sonically and for me personally," stated Shinoda. "And working with Jay-Z again has been phenomenal. We can't wait for people to hear the final product."
