Judge Tells Friends of Ja Rule To Pay Own Bail
State Supreme Court Justice Micki Scherer has ruled that the two men Ja Rule was arrested with must pay their own bail in the case. When the three were arrested late last year for weapons possession Ja put up both of his accomplice’s ( limo driver Mohamed Gamal and Ja's road manager, Dennis Cherry,) bails which were a total of $170,000. To make the bail payment Ja Rule (real name Jeffrey Atkins) had to put up his 3.5 million dollar New Jersey home as collateral. Now the judge is saying since Ja paid the men’s bail this gives him too much power over the case and it may affect the outcome. In simpler terms if Ja paid their bail he can tell one of them to take responsibility for the gun leaving him out of the law’s way. It is not known whether the two men will be returned to back to jail until they make this bail or whether they will remain free but Ja’s attorney, Stacey Richman, said the defense will make other arrangements for their bail. This to me is bullshit. I think it’s unfair for the law to fault a man for having enough money to bail out his friends. If I was arrested with friends and had the money to get them out, I would as I think any decent person would. The defense I’m sure will stay the same, that either the gun didn’t belong to any of the men or that it belonged to one of the men other than Ja Rule.
