50 Cent to Resign if Kanye West Outsells him

The infamous Chairman of G-Unit Records is definitely taking the sales of his upcoming album very seriously, serious enough that he promises to resign if it doesn't meet the expectations that he is hunting for, to outsell his musical rival Kanye West.

In updated news, I reported a couple of weeks back that Kanye West was to step into the ring with 50 Cent, putting up his Graduation Album against Fif's Curtis. West was searching for an all out sales battle against Interscope's highest record sales icon. Fif recently spoke with SOHH.com in an interview and stated:  

"If Kanye West sells more records than 50 Cent on September 11, I'll no longer write music. I'll write music and work with my other artists, but I won't put out anymore solo albums. And I bet this, when Kanye West's sales come in, he's gonna have a 70% decrease [the second week] 'cause Def Jam is gonna buy records to keep him closer to 50 Cent. So watch the first week and then watch the second week. Watch his ass drop off the planet. We keep our angles covered before we make a decent bet."

This will the third consecutive official album release for both major artists, not including Fifty's, Get Rich or Die Tryin' Movie Soundtrack, this is definitely a major event in Hip-Hop history. Both 50 Cent and Kanye West face off on September 11, 2007. Place your bets!

No offence to Fifty, but this one is quite possibly one of his worst ideas. If he's thinking that threatening the general public will assist in raising his sales, he better be able to back up his promise, but yet again it could be just another publicity stunt. In 2005, 50 Cent's last album, The Massacre, was a serious disappointment compared to the Get Rich or Die Tryin' LP. However, according to Soundscan, The Massacre sold 1.14 million copies in its first week, while Late Registration only sold 900,000. The question now is: Does 50 Cent still have that fan appeal or is Kanye the more favored artist? Tell me what ya'll think. Either way, this will definitely be a ruthless head to head sales battle.

Common reaches the No.1 Album Status

On Wednesday, it was reported that Common reached No.1 album status on U.S. pop charts. Finding Forever, which was produced by Kanye West, sold 155,000 units in its first week of release.

In the span of his 14 year career, Common has never received the No. 1 spot, regardless of the fact that his previous album Be sold more than his recent, Finding Forever. In 2005, his album Be sold 185,000 its first week and reached the No. 2 spot. To date Be has sold over 800,000 units.
