Jones Wins by Unanimous
Decision Over Trinidad New York, NY – Madison
Square Garden was filled to capacity this past Saturday night (January
19) as two titans entered the ring and one victor triumphed over the
other. Roy Jones, Jr.
gave a spectacular performance more taunting than throwing blows, but
essentially only throwing power punches that impacted the most, watching
his opponent move back and forth. That opponent, Felix Trinidad,
tried his best, but nothing would stun the former heavyweight. 7 rounds
into the fight, Jones lands a powerful blow to the head as Trinidad
wobbles to the floor slowly making his way back up. In the 10th
round, Jones lands another left hook, right hook for a second knockdown.
After 12 rounds it was inevitable that Jones was the victor by unanimous
decision. The scorecards read as is: 117-109 on one and 116-110 on the
other two. Those pair of knockdowns had major influence on the decision
making, it was an unavoidable loss for Trinidad who gave his all. On the real, Jones and Trinidad put on a great fight, they went toe to toe going back and forth. At the end of the day, you got to give it to Jones, he did his thing, all of those pivotal blows were powerful, he held back until he knew he had an open shot, definitely a veteran amongst others. Age doesn’t mean a thing when it comes down to skill and strength.
Super Bowl XLII:
New York Giants Vs. New England Patriots Last night (January 20) was
the Conference Championships, as both the NFC and the AFC battle the
last four teams left before the big game of the year. New England
Patriots went against the San Diego Chargers as the Green
Bay Packers went to head to head with the New York Giants. The Chargers suffered a huge loss to the undefeated Patriots as they took the AFC title winning at 21 to 12. It was evident that Philip Rivers could not defeat the unstoppable Tom Brady. However, the AFC title game was a much heated one, equal in points towards the end. Both the Packers and the Giants
gave an excellent battle going back and forth as the rise of the momentum
lasted straight into Overtime. The Giants missed a 36 yard field goal
in the final seconds of the 4th quarter which lead into OT.
However, Tynes, the kicker for the Giants, came back to regain
his first embarrassment by landing a 47 yard field goal beating the
Packers 23 – 20. Manning and his team upset Favre and the Packers
as they continue their way on the road to the Super Bowl. So now we move on to Super
Bowl XLII, Giants and Patriots. Who will the victor be? Super Bowl
Sunday will be February 3, 2008 in Phoenix, Arizona. I refuse to believe that the Patriots are going to beat the 1972 unbeatable Dolphins record. I’m not a Giants fan per say, but I’d rather a Manning take the championship. Guess we’ll have to see the outcome.
