Afeni Shakur vs. Death Row Records

Even after 2Pac’s death we are still hearing unreleased tracks from the legend himself, there are even rumors that he recorded over thousand songs before his untimely demise all under previous publishing rights exclusive to Death Row Records

In April of 2006, Marion “Suge” Knight, CEO of Death Row Records, Inc., filed for bankruptcy to protect his own assets and his company. During a recent settlement case, an album’s worth of unreleased recorded material surfaced as part of a sale to the general public. Afeni Shakur, mother of the late rapper, filed an injunction saying that the unreleased material rightfully belonged to the Shakur estate. Apparently the notorious label failed to include the recently surfaced material in a1997 agreement, settled in court of that year, stating that all unreleased 2Pac material be turned over to the estate. Court has yet to decide whether or not to allow Death Row Records, Inc. to release the album under their label in hopes that record sales will settle certain debts. Keep posted to 24hourhiphop.com for more information as it develops.

I’ve been listening to 2Pac for over 12 years now, even before he signed over to Death Row. A lot of us practically grew up on Pac. Now tell me who do you think the material rightfully belongs to? I believe if a new Pac album is to be released; it should definitely be where it belongs, Amaru Entertainment

Usher Abruptly Cancels Wedding

In updated news, I reported that Usher was to wed his longtime girlfriend, Tameka Foster. They also announced the coming of their newborn child. Apparently, they were set to wed last Saturday, July 28, but unexpectedly canceled the ceremony. Usher’s publicist left this statement with the Associated Press on the matter:

"It was announced today that the wedding ceremony for Usher Raymond, IV and Tameka Foster was canceled. No additional information will be given regarding the circumstances of the cancellation, but we hope the privacy of this matter will be respected." – AP

So as of now, we await the release of his new album that has yet to be titled. Keep posted as news develops regarding Usher and Tameka Foster.

I still say Usher should have stayed with Chili. Sidebar, what is it with Usher and older women, he definitely got a complex. In any event, I still think these two will be wed within the next couple of weeks and not let anyone know about it, only close friends and family, you know how it is, celebrity status.

Nicole Richie to Serve Time in Jail

In additional updated news, two weeks ago I reported that Nicole Richie plead guilty to DUI stemming from an incident that occurred in December. Last Friday, July 27, Richie was sentenced to serve four days in jail, three years probation, ordered to attend a 21-day alcohol program, and fined $2,048. In addition, the court issued a severe warning stating that the next time she drives under the influence and causes a death; she will be bought up on charges of murder instead of manslaughter because it would be her third strike. She has to surrender to officials no later than September 28 to begin her sentence.

If it would’ve been anyone else, the charge would have been much more severe. I can’t believe they let her side on four days and a minimal fine for DUI, why, because she’s a celebrity. I’m sorry, but that is some bullshit.
