On The Clock Report: September 10, 2007
SoundScan Showdown: Kanye West vs. 50 Cent For the past month, news has been going back and forth about these two heavyweights going at it in an all out first week album sales battle. 50 Cent even goes as far as put his career on the line if Kanye West were to outsell him. Curtis and Graduation is set to release tomorrow, September 11, 2007, the epic battle begins in the retail stores across America. By Monday morning the following week, well get to see who will reign champion: Kanye West or 50 Cent. With more interesting news, on the day of their album release, BETs 106 & Park has even scheduled both hip-hop titans to appear on this notable day. Speculators are wondering, will they go head to head in an all out freestyle battle, will egos clash and business becomes personal, or will both icons stay professional and keep it strictly business. Both West and 50 are scheduled to perform their hit songs on the 106 & Park stage. Whatever happens, America will be watching. This will definitely be an extinction level event that will go down in Hip-Hop history. Both are claiming pre-victory arrogance, but only the numbers will prove the victor. The soundscan showdown begins at midnight tonight and tomorrow morning upon the opening of retail stores. Will this be the last we see of the G-Unit leader? What a great fucking publicity stunt! They even got BET involved in this whole charade. You got heavyweight egos with something to prove. But its like Ive been saying, 50 Cents time has come and gone, his G-Unit run was in the beginning of the 21st Century, its over. But as yall already know, I got my money on Ye. I could be in over my head on this, but I got faith his album, even if it did leak week ago. From what Ive heard it sounds fucking amazing!
Rolling Stone Cover: Kanye West & 50 Cent face off with Game faces Apparently this whole icon epic battle has made such a huge impact upon the music world that they even got legendary Rolling Stone magazine involved. The front cover of this months Rolling Stone magazine has both hip-hop icons face to face with their game faces on point. They titled the cover Showdown: Who will Hip-Hop King? With an abrupt title, you can safely say theyve gone beyond where magazine has gone before. This must be a big fucking deal. This has gotten to the point where theyve gotten Rolling Stone involve. I give this a huge fucking wow. Personally, I really dont think it shouldve been taken extreme, but thats speaking on a non-business level. On a journalistic approach, however, it is a big fucking deal; the media is all over it, and whatever the outcome we all got something either negative or positive to say about the victor. This is definitely a field day for journalists of all genres. Prepare for articles on them for the next two weeks. Maybe I should at least review one of them.
