Kanye West leads 50 Cent in Soundscan Showdown With all the hype circulating throughout the week between these two heavyweights from the MTV VMAs to BET’s 106 and Park, it’s surprising to see that these two haven’t been involved in an all out altercation, yet. The general public is watching as both the controversy and the album sales raise everyday inching closer and closer to determining the champion. Alas, the Soundscan results are showing that Kanye West is in the lead with 600,000 units over 50 Cent’s 430,000. The final results for the week will be announced on Wednesday morning, that is when we will see who will reign as the battle draws to a close. At press time, Fifty is blaming the decline of record sales on Interscope’s lack of major promotion. He goes on to issue a threat to Def Jam if the verdict arrives that puts Kanye as the victor, basically going against his announcement of probable retirement. Within the same week, Kanye has been throwing fits back and forth about his place amongst the MTV VMAs. Apparently he wanted to open the show replacing Britney Spears, but MTV declined his offer. In addition to that, he also lashed out at them complaining that he didn’t receive enough airtime. West goes on to make threats of his own towards MTV, stating that he doesn’t want anything to do with them for future references. We’ll just wait to see on Wednesday the verdict of the victor to the Soundscan Showdown. Honestly, Kanye’s album definitely overthrows 50 Cents’. But I knew 50 Cent would never live up to his claim of retirement, it wouldn’t be rational to end his music career over an egotistical battle. I also gotta say that Kanye needs to stop whining, all these bitch fits is making his ass look like a damn woman.
After three years, Slim Shady is finally back in the studio to begin work on his next album. The title is already confirmed as King Mathers, but Eminem is still undecided on whether or not he will release the new album. Labelmates: 50 Cent, Ca$his, and Stat Quo have confirmed rumors that Shady back in the lab working on said album. Eminem himself called Hot 97 during an interview with 50 Cent and left these comments for fans: "I'm always working; I'm always in the studio. It feels good right now. For a while, I didn't want to go back to the studio, I went through some personal things. I'm coming out of those personal things, it feels good." At press time there has not been a set release date for his new album. Keep posted to 24hourhiphop.com for updated news on Eminem’s new studio album. It’s about damn time. The album name is different from all the alter egos of his last albums, but I guess it’s appropriate for his higher ego. And when the fuck is Detox coming out, somebody needs to holla at Dre and tell him we’re still waiting….
