New York, NY – The sudden death of DJ AM has caused a shock amongst the artists and execs in the industry that knew him very well. On Friday, August 28, 2009, he was found dead in his New York City apartment. According to authorities, DJ AM, whose real name was Adam Goldstein, was found in his apartment at approximately 5:20pm. In reports, investigators found prescription medication bottles near his body. According to additional reports, it was stated that AM had a history of drug abuse and his death was possibly caused by an accidental overdose.

This was a statement released by AM’s representative to the media confirming his death:

"Adam 'DJ AM' Goldstein was found deceased this afternoon in his New York City apartment. The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear. Out of respect for his family and loved ones, please respect their privacy at this time."

AM’s untimely death hit a lot of people with sudden shock and grief as nearly a year ago he survived a plane crash in South Carolina with celebrity drummer Travis Barker when they were en route to California. Artists, friends, and family across the industry are reflecting on his untimely death.

MTV released a statement about DJ AM, who they’ve known and worked closely with for quite some time:

"Adam 'DJ AM' Goldstein's death is an incredible loss to the music community, his friends, family and his fans, and to those of us who had the privilege of working with him. MTV was honored to support him as he helped young people battle their own addictions. Our heartfelt thoughts go out to his family."

Miami based DJ Khaled even commented on AM’s DJing skills when they met in Miami:

"I saw DJ AM play in Mansion in Miami, and he amazed me with his skills and the music he picked to make the crowd move. He made sure everyone — I mean everyone — had a good time!"

DJ Green Lantern even added his comments about AM and his turntable skills:

"AM was really dope, he was dope on another level. He innovated the live DJ experience a bunch of ways. His transitions from song to song were clever to the point you might be like, 'Damn, why didn't I think of that?' He did that while rocking the crowd. It only got crazier when he linked with

Travis Barker and had that extra element to add to the mix: a world-class drummer! You can watch clips of them online to see the routines they created. DJs definitely started pairing up with musicians for live shows after that. He was an innovator and inspiration to a whole generation of DJs that saw the success you could achieve if you stepped your game up and thought outside the box. With AM, It wasn't a party; it was an experience."

Fergie knew AM on a musical level and remembers him for his kindness:

"He was just so talented and just such a cool, good-spirited person. There wasn't a mean bone in that guy's body, and it's just really sad after what happened with him and Travis and now this, it's really sad."

Ex-girlfriend, Mandy Moore, is still shocked by his sudden death and is trying cope with the grief. She stated that he was sincerely a true friend:

"I am absolutely heartbroken. For those of us lucky enough to have known him, Adam radiated a contagious exuberance for life and also personified the very definition of a true friend. To say that he will be missed beyond words is an understatement. My heart goes out to his loved ones."

Paris Hilton stated that she knew AM for a very long time and expressed her grief through heartfelt words on her twitter:

"Adam and I were friends since I was 15. He had a heart of gold and was one of the kindest, funniest and most talented men I have ever met. ... It's so hard to accept that I'm not going to be able to see him or talk to him again. There are no right words for this, I feel so sad."

Travis Barker went through a lot with AM as they both survived a plane crash last year in September. He was, not only good friends with AM, but also partners in an infamous group they called TRVS-DJAM. While on tour with Blink 182, he expressed his heartfelt thoughts about a man he called his brother:



"Don't know how I am gonna play 2night, but I am for AM. My brother is gone. I love u and miss u, I'll never forget all the good times we had. ...

"I'll never forget everything we've been thru and every time i play the drums i'll think of you. U were an amazing friend/DJ/human being. ...

"Rest In Peace my brother, this really fucks me up."

At press time, autopsy reports have confirmed that the results were inconclusive and require additional testing that won’t be available for six or more weeks. Travis Barker and DJ AM have released two mixtapes between the two entitled their ‘Fix Your Face’ series.

On the real, it was a definite shocker when I heard that AM had passed away. It was abrupt and sudden and just a year after the Learjet plane crash that he and Travis walked away from, however, suffering burns. A lot of his friends are mostly artists and we are all saddened by his sudden loss.

Teaneck, NJ – It was reported earlier last week that Juelz Santana was involved in somewhat of a domestic situation that ensued when the mother of his child called 911 on him stating that he threatened her life. Santana was arrested at his residence in Teaneck and later charged with making criminal threats.

The leader of the Skull Gang that reports blew the situation way out of proportion. It was just a verbal dispute that occurred in a public space at a personal moment between him and the mother of his child. Santana spoke to MTV News and explained what occurred for the situation to get out of hand:

"It happened in a small town in New Jersey where there's not too much going on. So any little thing becomes a big thing. But that's just how they do around here.

Everybody has been in a situation with a female where you been mad or upset to a point where it becomes an argument, we all know how these things get ... they just get blown out of proportion sometimes. I live in an area where people aren't used to my kind — me being a young entertainer. My complex is more older people, its quiet."

Regardless of the how the situation went down and how annoying the neighbors can be, Santana still states that he is comfortable with his place of residence and doesn’t have any plans on moving anytime soon:

"I love the spot so much; it's not even about the neighbors. People have told me to move, but I love the actual structure of the condo I live in. Even if I did go get another house, I'd still keep it. But there are people in houses [around] who are nosy as hell."

Santana continued to state that the situation wasn’t as big as he made it to be, no one was harmed or going to be harmed and that his son was nowhere near or around the verbal dispute between him and the mother. At press time, a court date for Santana has yet to be released to the media.

Los Angeles, CA – The icon Jay-Z sat down and had a one on one with celebrity journalist Bill Maher and literally went in depth on his history and the lifestyle of Hip-Hop. It was an interesting one on one with a lot of jokes and comedic remarks between the two. They both actually go back and forth quite with the non-traditional Q&A style interviewing. Just in the first part alone, Maher hands him a huge book of over hundred and some pages of all his lyrics since ‘Reasonable Doubt.’ It was really interesting to see Maher mix and compare certain songs and material to that of the past and the present, with Jay-Z.

Maher actually covers a lot of detail and material with Jay, the man really did his research. You definitely need to check these videos out.
