For years, super-star rapper Rick Ross, has been a force in the Miami music scene, while ghost writing for numerous Miami artists and putting out a number of underground singles. After Ross recorded his monster single, “Hustler’s Anthem”, he gave it to his manager EClass, “Poe Boy Entertainment, CEO”, who took the record to 99 Jamz’ DJ Khaled. DJ Khaled immediately loved the record and started playing it on his nightly show, six to seven, even eight times in a row.

The streets of Miami showed tremendous support for Rick Ross and the record. Soon after, major labels began to take notice. His stock immediately skyrocketed and a bidding war ensued between Atlantic, Universal, Warner Bros., Jive and Asylum Records. After the record hit Hot 97 in New York, Def Jam quickly took notice and wanted in. The monster label, home to such artists as Young Jeezy, Kanye West, and Mariah Carey, made the strongest move to grab the Miami super-star from the competition. “The deal, the offer, it was a way better situation,” said Ross.

And the situation has remained that way, especially when it comes to local support from DJ Khaled, DJ Mauricio, DJ Kronik and a slew of others. Rick Ross’ music has been popping up on mixtapes all across the country. The hit single “Hustler’s Anthem”, has created such a strong demand, Rick Ross has been performing shows almost nightly for the past months, and may be headed your way shortly. The response has been overwhelming.

But it doesn’t stop there. Ross has numerous projects in the works. He’s currently filming his street DVD “Everyday I’m Hustlin”. The video for Hustler’s Anthem and “Chevy Ridin’ High”, the single featuring Dre of Cool & Dre, is slated to begin production in a few weeks. The premiere of his clothing line, Trapteez, will open its online store in mid-summer. With all the hype surrounding Ross, the other labels that weren’t able to cash in on the deal have shown interest in Rick Ross’ group; The Carol City Cartel, also known as Triple C’s. And of course, his much anticipated first album, Career Criminal, will be released soon.

Rick Ross has a busy future, but there’s no pressure. “I’m going to keep working, staying on my grind,’’ says Ross. “I’m still super hungry and time will tell what else is in store.”
