UPDATE: Pimp C's Death Ruled Accidental

Nearly two months after his passing, the Los Angeles coroner's office
has ruled that UGK member Pimp C died from sleep apnea, a common sleeping disorder that blocks the air passages during sleep, and an overdose
of Promethazine/Codeine syrup. Pimp C (born Chad Butler) was found dead in his room at the Mondrian Hotel in Hollywood, California on December 4th 2007.

Winter said that Pimp C did not die of an overdose and that his death has been ruled as an accident. Promethazine/Codeine is an over-the-counter drug that is celebrated by Houston rappers and often referred to as "Lean".
Winter also revealed that Pimp C's sleep apnea was a pre-existing
health condition. "Sleep apnea, you stop breathing," Winter told The Houston Chronicle. "Coupled with a medication that suppresses your respiratory abilities, you end up with an accidental death." Pimp C was only 33 years old and is survived by a wife and three children.
