Read 1861 Times Since Posted on 0000-00-00 Wyclef Jean was appointed roving ambassador by Haitian President Rene Preval to promote the image of the improvised nation. "I thank President Preval and it\'s an honor for me to have the opportunity to serve my country as a roving ambassador," Jean told The Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) via telephone. Preval, who was joined by Jean on a recent trip to Jamaica, referred to the Grammy winning rapper as a "huge asset for the country." Jean, who moved to America when he was nine, has long been active in support of his native country and regularly wears the Haitian flag on his clothing at public events. He also created the foundation, Yele Haiti, to provide aid and assistance to his impoverished birthplace.
