Ace Gutta
After years of DJing it seem only right that DJ Khaled would take the next step and put out an album himself which went on to sell over 250,00 independently on Terror Squad/Koch Records with his first album "Listennn" which featured the singles "Born And Raised" & "Holla At Me". Then Khlaed went back to the lab and brought us his sophomore follow up "We The Best" (selling more then 350,00) featuring the classics "We Taking Over" (which sold over 500,00 digital sales), "Brown Paper Bag" and "I'm So Hood" not to mention the remix. An after two successful albums on an indie at a time when critics have been saying "Hip Hop Is Dead" I have to say that Khaled was helping keep it alive with his own projects to his co-signing of artist such as Rick Ross, Flo Rida and Brisco. Recently Khaled was given his own label under Def Jam called "We The Best Music Group" and I got talk with his first artist Ace Gutta to discuss a few things with the man of the hour………
24: Everyone wants to know who is Ace Gutta? Ace Gutta: Ace Gutta straight out of Broward County Florida, repping Deerfield Beach. I have been grinding for a minute. About 7 plus years, I was just an up and comer trying to make then I liked up with Khaled and we got it popping! 24: How did you meet DJ Khaled which lead you to becoming his first artist on We The Best Music/Def Jam? Ace Gutta: Basically we linked up with Khaled based on hopelessness basically trying to perform at his birthday party. We went by the station and got up with Khaled, he was on his way to a meeting we gave him a package on based on that one thing lead to another. He listened to the music called my manager back that same night around 11pm and said he wanted to hear me on a big record and sent over the "I'm So Hood" beat. I ripped that down sent it back to him and days later he wanted to talk business as far as signing me. We The Best Music! 24: What do you feel like you will bring to the table, because I know a lot of artist have gave him there demo and everyone will be wondering why he choose to go with you as his franchise player? Ace Gutta: I bring that new change that's been missing to The Movement, being backed by some of the biggest artist in the game like Rick Ross and DJ Khaled. I think he just saw me and what I brought forward and that's good music. 24: Do you feel any pressure at all or is it more of a thing where you worked so hard to this point and finally get a chance to show the world? Ace Gutta: I don't really feel any pressure because everyone is just letting me do me. I just want to show everyone you can come from a small city and be the biggest thing in the world! 24: You are also opening the door for Deerfield Beach, Fl where not too many people outside of Florida know about. How big is that for you and what's the response you get from people in your hood so far? Ace Gutta: The response has been amazing, everywhere I go they pretty much salute and respect the fact what I'm doing for Broward. So for me to go on interviews and rep Pompano the Lauderdale's and the whole Broward region they salute me. 24: How has it been working in the studio with Khaled so far making records and when should the streets expect the first single to be released? Ace Gutta: It's been major and a blessing to be in the studio with someone like him. He brings the best out of you every time. 24: Any projects your working on that the readers should know about? Ace Gutta: Stay Tuned for the mixtape "Bet Ace Stand Forward" that's the title and I'm working on that now. 24: How can someone find out more info and hear more music from Ace? Ace Gutta: They can log on to www.myspace.com/acemusiczone1 and for booking, collaborations or mixtape hosting, etc they can hit my manager at 954-691-5297.
