The spotlight is on Miami, the bottom of the map, approximately 90 miles from Cuba from the point of Key West. No matter which side of the Hip Hop industry you look upon, production or the lyrical game, it is still evident that Miami is definitely on fire. With that being said, the local talent in Miami is an untapped source that has yet to be discovered. Between both producers and artists, the talent is swarming across both Dade and Broward County alike. Whether or not you are up on the local independent world, it runs in heavy rotation. Last week, I came at you with a local heavy beatmaker, this week I bring you a local infamous lyricist.

That one such lyricist has been known to perform at almost all the open mics and has graced the stage with the likes of Cuttaman and the whole ATP crew. Ask about him around the hood, they've heard about him, his lyrics, and his swag, his name is Chilla P. Dominating open mics, left and right with his hard hitting tracks, that you can hear just about everywhere open mics are held. He is definitely a force to be reckoned with.

On a late Sunday night in the industrial district of Opa Locka, I caught with Chilla P while recording tracks for his upcoming mixtape at Proffesir's studio. This is a one on one exclusive interview with Chilla P that you will only read on 24hourhiphop.com.

24: What's been going on lately with the infamous Chilla P?

Chilla P: I've been on the scene, been all over Dade County, Broward., representing the hood. I'm still grinding out here, getting this music out. I'm rolling with the infamous squad ATP, with Proffesir on these beats, we killing them. I'm here.

24: Can you give us a brief synopsis of the history behind Chilla P?

Chilla P: Chilla P came down from up north, Cole City, came down to Dade County at a young age. I hooked up with a squad called Pitch Black back in the days; this is where I met up with producer phenom, Proffesir, just basically, making these hard ass tracks, getting that local buzz. In the beginning, they started calling me Chilla, cause I was so cool in my swagger. I was just so cold at it, they just couldn't deny me. Chilla P came out of nothing, it's something now.

24: What inspired you to get into the game?

Chilla P: Shit, man, Hip Hop is a craft, it's an art. Once I found out I had the ability to put down lyrics and reach out and touch people, let them know what I was talking about, I couldn't deny it. So I started putting down magic, Proffesir making all these crazy beats, I was getting inspired by all these people I've met in the rap game, coming out of Dade County, they represented something different. I had to do my thang, spitting these fire lyrics.

24: I've heard a lot of artists in the game tell me that when they sit down to write a song, they hear the beat, they say the beat talks to them and tells them what to write, does that same theory go for you?

Chilla P: It depends on how the beat is; it could give me some inspiration, sometimes I want to express myself. I feel that I'm that missing part of the beat, the missing element. So the way I see it, I just put it together myself, so in the end, it all depends.

24: As a matter of fact, staying on the same subject, what thoughts arise when you do sit down to write that potential hit song?

Chilla P: I'm trying to figure out what I want to get off my chest, something that's been on my mind for a little while, or even a story that heard something the hood could relate to. You never know so many things just pop up in my head. I just go with the flow of the beat, it's just magic.

24: I've actually had a chance to hear some of your tracks, what messages do you incorporate in your songs?

Chilla P: I incorporate that street slang, you know, "You gotta get it how you live it out here." You got to live each day like it's your last, you got to be real with yourself. That's the only way you can survive in this life.

24:  Everyone in Miami is striving to get that contract just to make it in the game, what exactly sets you apart from the other talented artists?

Chilla P: I stand so far apart from these people, it's like I got that glow, that shine that you can't ignore. Once I step inside of a place, any place, I get all the attention, but I just got that type of swagger. It's like a diamond in the rough; it's something you can't deny. It sets me apart because my lyrics standout, my voice just stands out, I'm the total package. I am that 8 figure nigga, you know what I mean.

24: Like you mentioned earlier, it is truth in the fact that you roll with ATP; can you go back in time and give the history on that?

Chilla P: I hooked up with ATP through Cuttaman, the group king of the south. Once he heard me, he couldn't deny it, so we just had to hook up with the movement and get Dade County poppin'. And you know, ATP is Dade County, "Anything is Possible."

24: When can we anticipate the Mixtape?

Chilla P: Yeah, you can anticipate Bangaz coming real soon. We setting off the 08 properly, so you better look out for that, cause "Bangaz in the Trunk." Oh yeah, and look out for the single "She's a Freak" produced by Proffesir. You know these ladies are out here playing. Check that joint out.

24: So in essence, what can the world expect from the anticipated Chilla P?

Chilla P: Shit, you can expect: Raw, uncut, real to the fullest. Just keep your ears to the street if you wanna hear me, all day.

24: How fans go about contacting you or even copping a mixtape?

Chilla P: You can holla at me on my myspace, myspace.com/chillap or cop the CD there or at the USA Flea Market on NW 79th or the CarolMart on NW 183rd.

24: Thank you for vibing one on one with 24hourhiphop.com, do you have any last words for present and future fans?

Chilla P: Already, look out for Chilla, you hear the mixtape, pick it up. I'm going to tell you something you wanna hear that's going to help you in the near future. So stay tuned to Chilla P, All Day!
