24: When did you first get into producing?
Freebase: My whole life. I’ve been making
records my whole life. My homies always rapped, so someone needed to make the
beats.
24: What made you get into it. What were
some of your influences?
Freebase: It’s something that I had to
do. I heard it in my head. Either I was going to beat on the table or get a
beat machine and do something tangible with it.
24: Did you play any instruments when
you were younger?
Freebase: Yea. As a kid I played saxophone
and drums. Once I learned how to understand the scales, I pretty much picked
up any instrument, so I can play any instrument by ear.
24: How did you get down with the SouthSide
Bombers?
Freebase: Just being in Miami and knowing Hennessi.
We’ve been making records for years. We’ve made over 300 records
together.
24: Do you do beats for anyone else?
Freebase: Definitely. I’m working with
a lot people right now. I just got my management in place. I’m pushin
for some pop shit. The Brittany [Spears] isn’t official. Trying to get
some shit with Shakira. I got 2 joints with Peety Pablo. I actually got his
first single on Jive. Working for Colli Buds on Sony. Some reggae shit. Look
out for Hennessi’s shit also.
24: Is there anyone out there that you
would love to work with?
Freebase: There’s a lot of people that
I would love to work with. I don’t know how to explain it. I just love
to make music. So if anybody want to vibe, I want to vibe to. Sometimes you
can make something and sometimes you can’t. If there’s a chemistry,
that’s when the music happens.
24: Is there anyone from Miami that you
would like to work with?
Freebase: Everybody in Miami. I’m with
the movement.
24: Are you from Miami?
Freebase: I’m from Florida. I’m
not from Miami originally. A little town up north. I’ve been here all
my life.
24: If anyone wanted to get a beat from
you, how do they get in contact with you?
Freebase: Holla at Spliffington Management.
Spliffingtonmanagement.com. If they want a beat, then myspace. I got a website,
www.freebase.com.
24: Anything else you want to promote?
Freebase: Southside Bombers. Hennessi’s
shit. Hennessi is Miami. Hennessi embodies the movement. That’s what I
want to promote.
