Murph
24: You’re no stranger to our readers by now especially with the response of your latest record “Back Seat Luv” ft. Pleasure P. did you think the streets would be responding to it like they are? Murph: Honestly, when the record was created I felt as if it was an instant hit! With the harmony of Pleasure P. and my outspoken lyrics, it just fit like a glove. But I didn't expect to receive the amount of love it did from people saying how much love the song. I mean it’s on YouTube and on ringtone websites for you to download without my doing or consent, but if the streets want something they want it. So just for it to be buzzing like that it’s a beautiful feeling. Shout out to that boy Pleasure P! What it do! 24: I know your putting the finishing touches on your new mixtape R.T.M. but I wanted to know how does it differ from your first mixtape “In My Pocket”? Murph: Well, on “In My Pocket” I was a more laid back. It had more of a Smoke & Ride feeling to it. I had way more in depth songs for people to really get in touch with me as an artist and as an individual. More reality rap then anything else but with the new mixtape “Realer Than Most (R.T.M. vol.1)” it has a more up-tempo vibe. At the same time my lyrical content is still there and letting the listeners hear to what I'm actually bout. I have new production and I created my own lane on the tracks that I picked. It’s just a hard ass mixtape in generally and I’m sure the public will feel the same way! 24: Why should the streets go and pick that up because you as well as I do every drop’s a mixtape every other day? Murph: I'm sure everyone is making songs, mixtapes and on
their grind heavy but to be honest I feel like nobody's on my vibe ya dig. Besides
the niggas I fuck with and I listen to a lot of up and coming artist music and
some times I think I shouldn't because they ain't rapping bout shit! But it’s
really just to check what's out there that people want to hear. My music isn't
farfetched and anyone that knows me personally knows that I’m bout what I rap
about. So it’s just real man. I try to keep making good music consistently and
keep supplying the streets. That’s really how I feel with a Record Deal or no
Record Deal! 24: Your neighborhood “Miramar” is buzzing right now with the groundwork of Webbz, Prime Legend and yourself not to mention DJ Khlaed first artist Ace Hood, so do you feel like things are starting to turn in a better direction for the whole of Broward right now? Murph: Definitely, Miramar as a whole has a lot of artist with a unique talent. We've always been overshadowed due to where we stay at, or it isn't considered “Hood” enough by certain individuals. Which is fine by me because they must not come around much but our music speaks for itself. I know Killers and Guerrillas that will bust your head for nothing in Miramar just like a next man would that’s from Dade. It’s a new era dawg and it ain’t bout where you from anymore my nigga. DJ Khaled went way up to Deerfield and signed Ace Hood, which is not the typical place a label A&R would be searching for talent normally. Honestly I never heard of Ace Hood until his first single “Cash Flow” but I think he’s decent. He repping where he from and I respect that! Miramar is down the street from Carol City and to be honest Carol City is just like Miramar to me. That shit suburban then a motherfucker in some sections anyone from there can tell you that. I just want niggas to know fuck all this County shit we all should to unite and get paid my nigga. 24: Do you feel like it was the politics holding artist back or do we have to put the blame on certain artist to make great music that will be respected whether you’re from Broward or Dade? Murph: It's politics regarding the music that's being exploited. I know artist’s that's signed in our own city that ain’t being heard on the radio right now that's insane to me. I mean if there not hot enough to get spins on the station or in the club, why sign them. But this game is about who you know and that will take you along way in this shit. Besides I don't categorize my music as just Broward County music (lol). I’m just a nigga that could spit that reside in Broward. So if a nigga don't play my shit because I stay there, that's just straight up ignorance or he just got hate for Murph! That's how I see it because I fuck with anybody as long as its real music! 24: If you had to choose one song to play for a meeting with Interscope, Def Jam or Atlantic records that could make or break your music career which song would it be and why? Murph: I would have to say the track with Pleasure P. because it’s more radio friendly and it's more appealing to the women that actually buy your records. As long as you got the women on your side the niggas going to follow the ladies. Shit look at Plies for example that mother fucker got all the hardest tracks on his album but when its time for his single to drop he catering to the ladies (lol). I mean the labels are trying to sell product so I’m a give them what they need for them to give me what I need. 24: What should everyone be looking out for from you this year? Murph: Everyone should look out for the mixtape “R.T.M. (Realer Than Most) Vol. 1” hosted by that boy Krunch One. I got a follow up mixtape “The Alternate Route” coming right after that. I got upcoming shows in the works coming up so just keep in tune to 24hourhiphop.com for more exclusives from your boy. 24: What’s the best way for someone to get in contact with you and hear more music or do future collaborations? Murph: Everyone and anyone could hit me up on myspace.com/murphmuzik. I’m open for collaborations, I love new production so producers holla at me. I’m open for what ever as long as its good music and real niggas making shit happen. 24: Anything you want to say to the readers? Murph: Yeah man, anyone reading I need ya'll to keep your eyes open for me out there. All up and coming DJ’s stop acting “Hollywood” man. Ya'll niggaz ain't Khaled yet so show love and you'll get love back my nigga. Check that myspace out, new page on the way and to everyone that's on this music hustle stay grounded and stay focus man. I guarantee it’s only a matter of time before we knock down that Door. Shout out to Fair Way and 24hourHipHop.com and my nigga Jay.
